If I had an option I'd rate then 3.5 stars. Around 18 months ago we visited the Pasta bar, before it was famous. We were amazed at the warmth shown by the owner, and enjoyed the food and conversation. Since then Pasta Bar has risen to the top of Tripadvisor rankings, its become really difficult to get a place there. Last month we could get there with a group of friends, the food was good, but the warmth and welcome was lower than earlier. I always felt the prices were higher, but then the portion sizes were also satisfying. They do not offer baby chairs (kindersthul) which is also a drawback for families. The surprise was in the end, at the standard price of spending 70-80 Euros for 4 people, one would expect to pay by card. However, they do not offer card payments, stating that they are a small establishment (who has risen to the top).
Was back in Europe spending some time with the g/f. We spent 4 days in Rome and 5 days in Koeln, and I tried several different tiramisu desserts in Italy. Listen up...This place has a hidden gem. The tiramisu at PastaBar was better than anything I had in Rome. The updated version still had the thicker cream but this time there was a bit more liquor (ok with me) and came with fresh fruit (outstanding). I've heard they also have a great chocolate cake (which was sold out). I will go back to PastaBar for tiramisu each time I'm in Koeln, and plan to try the chocolate cake as well. FYI I deduct one star b/c the pasta was ok. Even though this place apparently makes pasta for Moroccan royalty, I preferred the more al dente pasta found in Rome.
The best Italian pasta bar in Cologne, if you can find a place in this very small place. Friendly service, always good rare to find wines and always excellent food.
Super nice evening with menue, delicious BIO wine very friendly service. I just wonder how many qyper comes to the service.
