Great food. The service was nice too. And the atmosphere is very comfortable. Absolutely loved the mocchi with ice-cream.

Great quality although a bit expensive also. Simple zen atmosphere authentic for Japanese restaurants, small space so reservation is recommended. The fish always seems fresh and prepared with care and service is very friendly. Their sushi combos offer a great variety that isn't available to this extent very often in Germany. We've been here a few times already and will be back no doubt.

I have known this restaurant since it opened in 1989 and have been a regular customer there for decades. At that time, Nikko was the best Japanese restaurant in Cologne for me and at the time, sushi and the like were also absolutely top, and the Kaiser menu was unbeatable. Then the euro came and from then on things got worse and worse. The prices were adjusted 1:1 and the quality of the goods was reduced. I moved away from Cologne 12 years ago, but I come to Kölle twice every year and that always involved visits to the Nikko and every year it gets worse and worse. I was there again in April 2024 and unfortunately I have to say that it was definitely the last visit for me. This is no longer the Nikko I know it could be seen and tasted and I really know what I'm talking about, that this place has gotten worse and worse over the years, now it was bordering on outrageous what was served there. The tempera is just finely grated vegetables with 3 North Sea shrimps and looks like a rösti, and the tuna hand rolls with miserable tuna and a few crumbs of tobiko, which I ordered out of frustration were also terribly bad, with cucumber instead of avocado unbelievable. The sushi chef didn't know what to create, he was completely overwhelmed and that's what the whole thing looked like. The Nikko used to be so full both at lunchtime and in the evening that you could hardly get a seat without a reservation. Today it is empty and there are hardly any Japanese people from the institute next door there...that speaks volumes. For me, I'm ending a Cologne era that once had the best restaurant in Lindenthal to offer....emphasis on: in the past. In my opinion: no longer recommended at all!!
