Although Mr Kumpir does not make a big impression at first glance since it doesn't look much different from other Döner places, it is really worth a visit. And this is the reason why: not only do they offer kebap, but also the amazingly tasty kumpir. Some may now ask what a kumpir is. Well, it's actually no more than a simple oven-baked potato. The key difference of this potato lies in its creamy smoothness resulting from the mix of potato and cheese. On top of that, some toppings are added, such as coleslaw, kebap, tuna, corn, tortilla, couscous, yoghurt-dressing or zaziki. In addition, this type of fast food is really filling. My friend and I had a Kumpir Bursa and Mexican for about Eur 5.80 each and we were happy we had it. I will definitely come back here. Not convinnced? Better try it out!
A baked potato, it 's innards whipped with melted cheese, topped with an array of fixings, depending on your order. Sounds simple right? When I first heard of it, I wasn 't too impressed. But appearances can be soooo deceiving! There are different kumpirs: Mexican, American, Bursa, original (just butter and cheese), free style (your own choice of toppings), and more. I got bursa and the boy got Mexican. Bursa had some sort of cous cous grain, bell peppers, yogurt sauce, and döner (kebab) meat. Incredibly tasty! The potato inside was fluffy and creamy, and complimented the toppings perfectly. The Mexican kumpir had beans and salsa and some other things that I can 't remember, but was equally as delicious. It wasn 't spicy though, which I think they said it was, but then again I have a higher tolerance for spice than probably most Germans. =P Anyways, definitely worth a visit. *Warning* Kumpir is VERY filling!!
What, I never wrote a review?? This place is great, you certainly get a great bang-for-the-bug! The potato itself is huge, they mix the inside with butter and cheese so it's like mashed potatoes. I personally ask them to mix it with the hot sauce, so good. Then they fill it with all sorts of good stuff. I usually get the free styler, which means I decide what I want on it, and they just keep piling the toppings into the potato. There is a lot to choose from, including chicken döner meat. You can also pick a certain style like vegetarian or Mexican. The price is between 6 and 9 Euro I think and it is a big, very filling portion, I often had some left over. The place is family owned and they are all very nice people. They have enough room to sit down, with tables for 2-8 people. Nothing fancy, but clean. I love this place!!!
