What Margaretha Schultz doesn't like about L'Arena Steakhaus:
Already at the breakfast table my wife and I plan the 16th. October: Date in Solingen, late afternoon return home with dinner at L 'Arena in Cologne-Porz-Wahnheide on Heidestraße 218. Why? Several years ago, after a hike in the Wahner Heide we were already there and have eaten very well. At that time, the Steakhaus El Toro was located there. After moving this steak house from Cologne-Porz to Saint Augustin (in El Toro in Saint Augustin we have already eaten excellent, see my critique under [here link] the L 'Arena in Heidestraße 218 moved into Cologne-Porz-Wahnheide. Let's see if we find the quality that we are used to by El Toro in Saint Augustin and that we have already experienced when El Toro was still in Cologne-Porz. The ambience Finding a parking lot is not difficult when visiting the L 'Arena. Less than fifty steps next to the L 'Arena is a parking space which is available to the customers of a beverage market, to the guests of a pizzeria next to the L 'Arena and just to the guests of the L 'Arena for free. But even if this car park should be occupied, there are enough free parking spaces on the Heidestraße in parking bays. The L 'Arena invites its guests to the anthracite-colored tiled ground floor of a white-washed multi-storey house. High, wide windows let the view of the Steakhaus from the outside and from the inside the view of the multi-used Heidestraße. Inside, an LED star sky illuminates a large guest room divided with round arches, furnished with dark brown, cozy chairs and like-colored tables. The tables are tastefully covered with red table sets, white dishes and red and white napkins. A decoration suitable for the season with autumnal gestures and a stoneware pumpkin with tea light are not missing. On the walls, mostly light beige but also purple, decorative old watches, dressings and lights create a homely environment. A large mobile mirror is labeled multicoloured, labeled with the daily offers. We feel comfortable in this ambience, it is welcoming and cozy, suitable for a steak house. In spite of the location on the traffic-rich Heidestraße, the proximity of which is only perceived visually in the local area, we give five stars. The service We are kindly greeted when entering a gentleman in the best man age. He takes care of us all night and the initially few, in the course of the evening more numerous guests of the restaurant. And this makes him professional, friendly, fast, caring, asking for the taste experience of the food and not paying with answers to requests. Card payment, also with credit cards, is not a problem when paying. A leak at the expense of the house at the expense of payment is also a matter of course. More of that later! We didn't know what to do with the service. Accordingly, we give five stars for operation. The food The serviceman leaves us free choice, we have not reserved. We like a foursome table, we get the menu immediately. As for a steak house, there are steaks and steaks and steaks in all possible variations. Hip steaks, entrecôtes and ragsteaks, beef fillets, lamb fillets and lamb backs predominantly served with salad, foil potatoes, steakhouse chips or croquettes. The beef comes from the awards of Argentina, the lamb meat according to our serviceman from New Zealand. Few fish dishes are also on the map. We see the price level as quite normal, in few cases even as favorable. In the meantime, our Lord has received the drinks from the service. My wife chooses a Merlot, which at €6.50 for a fifth beats rather high-priced beech, but it tastes so good that it takes a second during the evening. I'm damned for chauffing, so just give me an alcohol-free early-collar, €3.50 for the third-liter. We have also made the choice. My wife loves with the lamb fillet with pepper sauce, fries fries and salad for 19,50 €, and I choose as a garlic fan – lambs with lemon-bone spinat, fries and salad at 22,50 €. As soon as our serviceman has listed our orders, he also serves us the greeting from the kitchen, which is rich and tasteful. Crispy, roasted bottlebot in a silver metal basket and two white porcelain bowls with red and white contents the camarero presents us. The red content turns out to be a preparation when consumed, close to the Turkish antep ezme shows: onions, peppers, tomatoes, olive oil. The white content is a yogurt preparation with dill and garlic. Tastefully both dips are excellent, so we need to draw the generous amount of amuse gueule to leave room for the following dishes. Our work with the greeting from the kitchen is thankfully then also interrupted by the presentation of the supplement salads. Various leaf salads, tomato sacks, rakes, onions, corn, cucumber slices and paprika strips are covered with a yogurt dressing. The salad is excellently crisp fresh, the dressing is tasty and makes the salad delicious. After the salad we don't wait long for our main dishes. The serviceman introduces to my wife a large plate with four lamb fillets, obviously homemade fries, a roasted tomato half and a fruit half, which tastefully recalls a nectarine, but just remembers. The four (always four) Lamb fillets are excellently prepared, tender, à point and medium roasted. A tasteful pepper sauce refines the anyway good taste of lamb fillets. The fries are house-cut and exemplary fritted. The hot dish is so generous that my wife has to fight with the last hints of her lamb fillet. This fight is not saved to me either. The good man of the service presents me a plate with three pieces of lamb back lying on a generously dimensioned spinal hill. The other supplements such as fries of fries, tomato and half of fruit make no difference to the supplements on my wife's plate. The spinach is priced with lemon and garlic, but after my taste with too little lemon and garlic. Nevertheless, the composition tastes excellent. Here, too, the meat is prepared to the point as with the fillets, juicy and has a pleasant roast aroma. A piece of very tasteful herbal butter gives a taste cake. The portions are very generous so that we have our trouble in emptying the plates. There's no room for a dessert. Our service provider is generous in the name of the house. He's offering us a Digestivum. My wife as a passenger is allowed to approve a grappa, I approve an espresso at the expense of the house. No objections to both additions, espresso and grappa, matured in oak barrel, taste excellent. The five stars for the food are justified in our opinion. There's nothing to complain about. Cleanliness No tadel in cleanliness! The dining room, the tables, the dishes and the best corner are perfectly clean. Also impeccable cleanliness prevails in the toilets – males and females. It's worth five stars. The five stars for the price-performance ratio are actually mandatory. We have been served very well, we also consider the food excellent. The only criticism of the price-performance ratio focuses on the price difference between the abundant four lamb fillets at 19,50 € compared to the three lamb back pieces with spinach at 22,50 €. Here price calculation does not seem to be consistent. Despite this not quite clear calculation between these two dishes, we consider the price-performance ratio of the L 'Arena offers to be more than good. Four and a half stars for the price-performance ratio seem appropriate to us. The conclusion of five stars in food, service, ambience, cleanliness and only four and a half stars in the price-performance ratio does not allow any other rating than: five stars, albeit close, for the conclusion. Or to speak with a kitchen trip: absolutely again!!!
Great restaurant, had several diners here. the quality of eating is excellent and the cook and the waitress are even better. I would be recommended to everyone!
We had a nice dinner, good quality eating and large portions. it was possible to ask for some and to pay with an additional fee per credit card.
The salat was impressive, which came with the white carving (i like salate). the colsh was refreshing (local cologne/koln beer).
We had a nice dinner, good quality food and big size portions. It was possible to pay by card after some requests and with an additional charge.
