The place is obviously very popular and is a typical German restaurant. Despite a very very busy night (I don't think I have ever seen so many goose carved at tables before ) the service and food was good and we had a good relaxing night and never rushed.
After having made a rather long trek across both sides of the Hollernzollern bridge it was time to find a place to sit down and have a beer. Well, this place was the first place that we came across when we began our walk along the Rhine. Apparently, according to the sign, this place dates back to the 12 Century, though they claim it was a guesthouse back then (which means they probably still sold beer). Anyway, like many of the pubs (or Brauhauser) they will tell you to go and take a seat and they will come and serve you (which is a little odd in my mind since table service is actually quite rare in Australia). Still, the staff are friendly, the beer is cheap, and there are some awesome views of the Rhine.
We ate at this restaurant with 14 people on a rainy day for lunch. The interior is cute and very friendly so was the service and I must admit the food was very delicious. Would recommend this restaurant, the view is nice and you are close to the boats if you want to do a small river cruise.
We had to wait quite a while for drinks and food to be served. The food was okay, and the service was also good. However, it wasn't great. Prices are rather high. For example, a bottle of water (7.5 dl) costs €9.50. And: They don't serve Kölsch beer.
Fantastic waiters and venue! We had our civil wedding lunch there and it was just fantastic! They were able to privatize one of the rooms upstairs and decorate the table with some fresh flowers. The food was delicious and overall I highly recommend the restaurant if you want to plan a private event.
