Of course, this included the playground visit at the Tanzbrunnen, a ride with the small railway through the park, a cable car ride across the Rhine, a round with the giant wheel and then: there was hunger. The Claudius Therme is right next to the cable car station. And at the view from the cabin at the end of the ride we saw that a restaurant also belongs to the bathroom. So we haven't been thinking about it for a long time and strengthening us there. Ambience In front of the building a water pipe with basins and disposable cups donates flowing healing water from the spa. It tasted quite salty and little refreshing. But I don't think it should. Japanese proverb: “What bitter the mouth is healthy to the stomach. Useful criticism is often bitter. Good medicine tastes bitter.” But honey should be healthy. Behind the entrance are stairs and elevators. The restaurant is on the second floor. The room is rustic but cosy. At the door one is received and turned into a free table. We had the choice to sit inside or outside on a terrace. Because the weather was sunny but not hot, we secured a table under a parasol in the fresh air. Cleanliness Everything was well maintained. The toilets are, however, accommodated on the first floor (i.e., use elevator or stairs). Everything was also fine and clean here (the facilities are also visited from the other places of the house. Service Two waiters served the guests. They were friendly and empathic. We also received some information on the offer. There was no map for children; but the small versions of quiche or supplements were recommended to us. In the end, however, the child wanted to have only pommes. The card(s) on a large sheet (approximately double Din A 4 width are on the one hand food and on the other beverages. The list seems long, but there are “only” two to four dishes per “departure”: soups salads and fine appetizers Feel well kitchen crispy baguettes fresh from the grill on small salad set original Alsace flake deliciouss from the potato kitchen Gnocchi and pasta fresh fish juveniles Is there a lot of prefabricated? Today it was not so important to us; but it should taste. At first the usual basket was brought with bread, which some people already call “Great from the kitchen”. There was a pot of herbal cucumber. Surprisingly, the white bread was somewhat warm and quite fresh and pleasant in the mouth. It is possible to like the cleansing; I tried him and found him all right, but not great. With the bread it was possible to absorb sour remains well. The chicken was actually soft and juicy. The layer on top was a kind of hood and brought additional flavors to the breast meat and prevented post-drying. So the piece remained tender. However, the roasted pieces were relatively soft – even outside. I prefer a little more rough surface. The salad plate consisted of crunchy different leaves and had a mild dressing as a companion. The piece of the pork back was also tender and well seasoned; it also showed fine own taste. Up there was a cheese bonnet. She was not crooked but pleasantly tasted and fits quite well with the pig. The mustard layer on the meat also produced a round aroma. The pepper sauce was not particularly sharp and rounded off the meat. The beans had still light bites, but were well cooked and did not squeak. The jus also fit quite well for vegetables. The potato gratin was quite cute and soft. However, I prefer a slightly flawed surface. The pommes weren't too thin and had some scarf. They were slightly crooked outside and soft inside. Salt had also been carefully worked. We found that right. We want to admit that Majonaise and Ketchup came from small plastic bags. Drinks Gerolsteiner medium 0,75 l 5,50 € Price Performance Ratio The quality was appealing, the portions neatly large. That's why the prices were fine for us. Conclusion 4 – if we were to get back to the area, we wouldn't be dimmed to eat and drink again. We were positively surprised; because in a swimming pool we have already eaten much worse. Because there are no doubt more than Pommes and Bratwurst on offer. Out on the terrace surrounded by nature....was beautiful. food... read more Fell upon this restaurant, we went in to see the Thermal Baths and found a lovely spot for lunch. Out on the terrace surrounded by nature....was beautiful. food and drinks served by a lovely helpful waitress. Great value. I had the smoked salmon salad and my guest had the Salmon Burger. Will be back again. Thanks for a memorable lunch in Cologne.

I was made to sit at a table which had a clear sign sayi... read more Went in as a solo traveler and was asked not to sit at a table with a cloth as they are all “reserved”. I was made to sit at a table which had a clear sign saying do not sit here. Ordered a burger and in German requested they omit the gherkin as I have allergies to food colourings, which are often present in gherkin. The burger came with gherkin and I duly sent it back. The staff then agreed to take it away and then brought the same food back cold, minus the gherkin. As this is a matter of allergy I fail to see how they can justify this. I then tried to pay and leave, resulting in the staff being rude to me and laughing at me. Even the next day when I tried to complain to the manager, he backed his team and told me he couldn’t understand the issue or why I was upset. Absolutely zero understanding of customer service and a ruined experience.

As my husband and I wanted to have a romantic evening together during our stay in Cologne, we read that the Claudius Therme offered a Candlelight Dinner in thei... read more As my husband and I wanted to have a romantic evening together during our stay in Cologne, we read that the Claudius Therme offered a Candlelight Dinner in their Eau de Cologne restaurant. It suited us perfectly as you didn't have to spend the day at the spa but could just go to the restaurant in the evening. To begin with I would like to say that for €89 for 2 all drinks included, it was excellent value for money. We had a choice of aperitifs and we both opted for a glass of Champagne. We were then served an appetizer of what I can only describe as white asparagus on a kind of a very thin pizza base which was delicious. For starters we both had baked goat's cheese on a mixed salad which was so big it could have been the main course. Both of us decided on the lamb for our main course with ratatouille and gratin potatoes. As all drinks were included in the meal, we had water and red wine. By now we were both getting full but we still had dessert to come. Again we both made the same choice which turned out to be a very large piece of apple strudel, some small pieces of fruit, vanilla sauce, vanilla ice-cream and whipped cream. Finally we finished the meal off with coffee. This was absolutely a superb meal and excellent value for money. However, I do have one negative point to make and that is, considering it's a Candlelight Dinner which one would expect to find in a very romantic place, this restaurant is situated almost in the middle of the spa and allows people who have spent the day there to dine in their bath robes. Unfortunately, we felt this just didn't make any sense. Perhaps you might consider that at the end of the day guests get dressed first before dining for what should be a very romantic end to the day.
