The location is extremely close to the Dom... read more I had wanted to try out a few more restaurants in Köln, and the one chosen for this beautiful evening was Consilium. The location is extremely close to the Dom and Hautbahnhof, but is a little hidden away and isn't the sort of place that...you would come across naturally. The entrance was beautiful with Christmas lights, and I will certainly be back in the summer months to enjoy evening drinks in what looked an inviting courtyard. We had a table booked, and in true German efficiency arrived spot on time. Having said that, the restaurant had only two other tables in when we arrived and we were given a wide choice of where to sit. The food itself was divine and the Dattel in Speckmantel dates wrapped in ham were the best I have ever eaten. Main course consisted of one order of Iberico Schwein, and one of Lachs. Both were delicious: the meat was perfektly cooked and I would have no issues with eating it every day for the next few weeks. Amazing! Both dishes were accompanied with potatoes and a small selection of vegetables. Though full beyond belief, I still felt I wanted to tackle desert and choose the Panna Cotta with Kirschen to share. The desert wasn't of the same high calibre of the two previous courses and the sauce was far two sweet for both of us. However, once that had been 'drank', the Panna Cotta itself was divine. If I went again, I think I'd realise that three courses was just too much! The service had been wonderful throughout but I had to turn around a couple of times throughout to get attention, particularly when paying the bill. However, our evening wasn't rushed and we had time to wait. A little more 'attentive' service would have been perfekt. Starters were around Mains from and deserts the same as starters. This is a restaurant that you won't find stumbling around the city easily, but if you are after a place to share a romantic evening, a dinner with friends, or are in need of somewhere to host a work evening out, then I can recommend this wonderful restaurant. I am determined to seek out more little haunts in Köln, but I know that I will be back to enjoy another evening at Consilium in the future. And if you're in Köln, you should do too... x

It turned out to be a great choice and v... read more After seeing quiet a few tourist place we decide to give Consilium a try, after seeing its quiet courtyard fom outside. It turned out to be a great choice and very enjoyable dinner. I had chicken liver with salad as starter, which was very tasty...and big enough as a meal itself. Main dish i had grilled fish selection and it was one of the best seafood cooking i had in Germany. The wine selection is good and love the fact they also have several small starters can be ordered separately as nibbles. I would love to have the desert there as it looks very promising, but I was so full that I have to take a break. If i ever go back to the city i will visit it again. Also friendly service

On the evening that we went it was quite quiet so the service was excellent. We ordered the duo of duck liver and the rack of lamb. Our...waitress quickly returned with our wine and explained that the duck had turned into a goose and asked if we minded which we didn't. So our starter duly arrived with a number of delicious grilled goose liver pieces and a mountain of salad big enough for a main course ..... then our main course arrived .... we each had a whole rack of lamb, beautifully pink and very tasty ..... and veg and potatoes .... huge! Very reasonably priced, good wine, good service, mouse friendly, well cooked food .... just too much of it
