We have visited this restaurant twice. The starters are delicious. The portions are quite big compared to other Chinese restaurants. Some main dishes are more catered to the non-Chinese customers, but you still can get authentic Chinese food here. Some Szechuan food might be a litte too greasy. The staff is friendly and quick. What Wenzel Becker doesn't like about Asia Gourmet Hakka:
This is a Chinese restaurant that wants to be more than the usual poor quality China Restaurant. We did try them out recently, and were fairly optimistic after the cold stater dishes which were really nice. However, on the main courses disappointment set in. All a bit too greasy and sauces thickened with starch, and the taste not really up to the originals. The servings are huge, but with low quality ingredients (we... View all feedback.
Real authentic tasty Chinese Food, Cantonese dishes as well, I spotted Szechuan spicy dishes as well. Not expensive.
It's not the culinary highlight but it does serve its purpose (urgent food intake need after several hours walking). The chicken teriyaki was quite good and so was also the lemongrass chicken with veggies. Right temperature, taste and texture. This is one of the better fast food places...
The Sign '' Modern Asia Gourmet'' is a real eyecatcher, esp. if you pass it 2x daily. The venue was only 10% filled and it was 7 Pm (n by the time we left was only up to 25%), no wonder the Owner n his wife only needed someone in the kitchen and noone else.Surely, I set my expectation too high and I had all the right for that since the words of ASIA (Modern) n Gourmet written big enough and they are very responsible with what they promise us, rite?Modern means plain table with paper napkin? The lampions (out n inside) and some decos are very simliar to the cheap fast food stall, dont match at all with any gourmet Restaurant (I know). The Dishes we ordered (2 Appetizer & 3 Main Courses) were uglily presented. A real Gourmet would leave the table at the very first second. The dried Chilie (not even the fresh one!) which was thrown in to my Fish Plate was a disgrace, just bec they think I could manage to eat spicy! Anyway, the Fish Dish was the personal recommendation of the owner tho (might be bec they had too much frozen Fish in the frezeer!) This promising refined dish wasnt also shown by our kid' Fried Noodle which looked overfilled and not appetizing at all. All these things weren actually a new world to me, but stil I was disappointed.Furthermore, the first welcoming gesture of the owner. Im quite sure if he didnt mean to be rude, but I'd prefer someone who has better manner... a bit more restrained... Would be a well tanned handsome italian flattered if someone greeted him with : ''You're an English, rite?'' just bec he is a caucasian (n he hasnt even a red face)? Or something like: ''Hey, you are a German. You guys love Mustard'' And all of the sudden 1 L Mustard is on your plate just beside some pairs of your Nürnberger Bratwurst (which is shorter and thinner than other bratwurst sausages) - just like what happened to my Chili.Worth a try if you're starving and only eat rice for life...
Fast service and affordable, taste good and many variety of asian cooking, recommended if you had enough with american fast food
