What User doesn't like about Retro Taco:
Well.... That was underwhelming. The food was severely under seasoned and bland. We ordered the food truck nachos, Baja burrito with chicken, and a buffalo chicken eggroll. After passing this place numerous times and reading good yelp reviews I decided to give it a try. I honestly think it is probably the most disappointing food I've had in quite a long time. The reason for two stars and not one are that the server w... View all feedback.
I had the carnitas and beef tacos, and coming from Texas, my expectations are quite high. I was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced. The pico de gallo and salsa were fresh, which is definitely a plus. I missed having someone energetic to justify the price, but overall, I’m planning to return.
This is the best Cali-Mex food I've had in ages! The street food reminded me of what you'd find in the streets of Los Angeles. They even have Pacifico on tap. We will definitely be returning!
Our group of four arrived an hour before closing on Memorial Day weekend. The restaurant was very clean, although it was mostly empty. We inquired about ordering takeout along with our drinks, and there was no issue with that. The Cali-Mex cuisine, which should not be confused with traditional Mexican fusion food, was served at our table within minutes. The wait staff was extremely friendly, and our plates arrived hot and fresh. The tables were stocked with a generous selection of hot sauces. Overall, I would highly recommend this place.
A month ago, I mentioned that it's Cali-Mex, not Tex-Mex or traditional Mexican, but the food is still great and the prices are good. They have a bar with daily specials; today was taco day. I had the Retro Taco with chicken, salsa, nachos, and a soft drink for just $7.95. While the chicken was a bit dry, it was still tasty, and the salsa was delicious. Plus, they have Pacifico on tap!
The tacos were delicious and truly authentic, but I wouldn't recommend the sides. The salsa tasted more like marinara sauce, the chips were dry and lacking flavor, and the street corn was essentially just corn with butter and some seasoning. However, the tacos were fantastic! So if you decide to visit, just stick to ordering lots of tacos.
