Description

Nestled in the charming Holmfirth, this restaurant provides a vibrant atmosphere, especially during busy evenings. While some diners enjoyed attentive service and expertly cooked steaks on grill night—complete with a fantastic value meal deal—others faced challenges with noise levels and subpar food quality, leading to disappointment. The upstairs seating lacked ambiance, and overly salty dishes marred the dining experience for some. Despite these inconsistencies, the venue offers a diverse menu, dog-friendly options, and an inviting outdoor space. With improvements, it could elevate its standing and avoid becoming just another forgettable dining spot.

Friday night, overbooked and very noisy at 8.00pm. Neither a dining or drinking pub at the time. Asked to be moved from a very loud group, we were offered a table in the upstairs room, this had all the atmosphere of a old people’s home bright overhead lighting and a selection of misfits hiding from the real world. Food should have saved the evening however it was so salty it was virtually inedible. Made our feelings known as we paid the bill no apology or offer on the bill. Sorry not a good experienced the bridge needs sort itself out or it may just become another Scandinavia crime drama

Luckily we booked a table as the Thursday evening we went was fairly busy, but this did not detract from the efficient service. Staff friendly and attentive. We happened to book on grill night where you get 2 main meals and a bottle of wine for £30. We added a fantastic starter of mushrooms in a rich cream sauce. The main steaks were perfectly cooked and generous portion sizes of chips and trimmings. Nice atmosphere with a mux of ages. Dog friendly.

On a busy Friday night at 8:00, the restaurant was overbooked and very loud. It was not an ideal dining or drinking spot at that time. A loud group made us request to be moved, and we were relocated to an upper floor area that lacked ambiance and felt like a sterile environment. The food was expected to salvage the evening but was overly salty, rendering it nearly inedible. We expressed our disappointment to the staff when we didn't see any apology or compensation on the bill. It was a disappointing experience overall, and the restaurant needs to address these issues before it becomes like another cliché Scandinavian crime drama.

We were fortunate to have made a reservation as the restaurant was quite busy on a Thursday night, but the efficient service was not affected. The staff were friendly and attentive. We had made a booking for the barbecue evening special, which included 2 main dishes and a bottle of wine for £30. We also ordered a delicious mushroom starter with a rich cream sauce. The steaks were cooked perfectly and served in generous portions with a side of chips. The atmosphere was beautiful and elegant. The restaurant is also dog-friendly.
