Stagg Inn

Stagg Inn
4.3 / 5 (1703 reviews)

Description

Nestled in a charming environment, this gastro-pub offers an inviting atmosphere with a menu that impresses in both quality and presentation. Diners rave about the expertly cooked dishes, from perfectly seared scallops to succulent steaks. However, some reviews indicate fluctuations in service and a need for more consistent warmth from the staff. While prices are reasonable for the quality, the absence of a kids' menu may deter family visits. Despite minor criticisms, the overall sentiment highlights a delightful culinary experience worth returning for, especially on a bustling evening or a relaxing Sunday lunch.

This restaurant is a nice find during a walk. There are only a few seats available for a drink, as it is mainly a gastro pub. They do not sell packets of crisps, but they can cook some for £1.50. I wish the staff had been friendlier and that I had noticed the small sign on the bar offering crisps. The food looked good and is priced at around £20 per plate, so I planned to return in the evening. However, I decided not to come back because I didn't want to spend that much money on my eight-year-old daughter if she ended up not liking the food. It would be helpful if they had a kids menu available, and they should inform customers about it.

This is a restaurant in the area that is pretty good. It used to have a Michelin star, and may still have one. A three-course meal will cost around £70-80, but the three mini brulee dessert is exceptional. The service is acceptable, but the hospitality is a bit cold. I have dined here 5 or 6 times and the food has always been excellent. The restaurant can sometimes feel exclusive, but if you overlook that, it is a great dining option.

The entire experience at this restaurant was excellent, from the moment we entered to the service we received. The employees were very accommodating and knowledgeable.

We stayed at a lovely cottage for a long weekend as it was recommended to us, and we were not disappointed. We would give it a 10/10 rating.

Food was excellent some really interesting flavours and very well presented. Impressed by the menu, which also catered for vegetarians. It look a long time (over 30 mins for the starter and another hour for the main course) in a venue that wasn't overly busy; room for improvement there. Minor observation, but the decor in the mens' toilets (looks new) is bizarre when compared with the rest of the Stag Inn! Overall it's a good venue, with great food and welcoming staff.
