Beachside Fish & Chips

Beachside Fish & Chips
3.6 / 5 (789 reviews)

Description

At this seaside eatery, opinions are sharply divided. While some rave about the excellent fish and chips, emphasizing generous portions, taste, and outstanding service, others condemn the food quality, citing issues like rancid oil and poor preparation. Diners appreciate the restaurant's proximity to the beach, making it an ideal spot for a casual lunch or dinner with a view. Despite the mixed reviews, those seeking value for money may still find something enjoyable on the menu, particularly if they opt for takeout. However, it’s clear that improvements in food quality and service are needed to elevate the dining experience.

Located just steps away from Edithvale Beach, we ordered the Blue Grenadier Pack along with some extra chips and potato cakes. The portions were generous and everything was wonderfully crispy. The shop also offers delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. We highly recommend trying the tartare sauce with the fish, and the calamari rings were fresh with a crispy batter that we really enjoyed.

Delicious fish and chips! The restaurant itself is average, but it's conveniently located near the beach. The fish and chips were a bit oily, but the dim sims were fantastic!

Located at 234 Nepean Highway in Edithvale, Beach Side Fish Chips (formerly known as Flakey Jakes and Hot Spot Fish N Chips) is definitely in a league of its own. Despite having to wait a considerable amount of time on Christmas Eve, the amazing fish and chips were well worth it. The quality of the food was some of the best we have ever had, and it seemed like everyone else in the restaurant that night felt the same way. The owner, although quiet and unassuming, is a perfectionist when it comes to his fish and chips, making sure that every bite is absolutely delicious. We would definitely buy from Beach Side Fish Chips again, anytime. Our visit on Thursday, 24 December 2015, for a late takeaway dinner before heading to Mount Martha for a beach house rental over the Christmas long weekend was a memorable one.
