Recently attended a Gala dinner at this venue and was blown away as we entered along the boardwalks over the water, welcomed by waiters and trays of drinks and canapés.The venue is beautiful and the dance floor over the swimming pool is very impressive but sadly the food was a disappointment. Service was ridiculously slow and share plates for a table of 10 were inadequate. View all feedback.

Was organizing a small ball for the University's Society, and thought Glen Albyn Estate would be a beautiful location to hold our ball at. And that's the only good things I have to say about that, it has a nice view, which disappeared the moment the sun set. Everything else was as bad as it could be. Food was little and bland, not to mention expansive. They tried to charge us $600 more on alcohol that nobody drank, just because we took awhile to pack our equipment as the event was running late (as all events do). The staff were excellent that night, and I have a feeling that the problem lies more with its management. Won't recommend. Only utilize if you really need to have a place to hold your event, and you have a lot of money.
We recently attended a corporate function here for around 175 people. It was an evening event. It appears the place was once a home that has been poorly converted to a function centre. On arrival we were ushered into a tiled plain room with a kitchen (was once a family room and kitchen?), very strange place for an entrance, more like going into someones back door to an empty house. We were served drinks and nibbles and later ushered into what was once a lounge room?. Very very dark and completely empty except for a massage chair, I have no idea what that was there for but it did provide seating for one lucky lady. It was very cramped with all those people and many left to stand in the hallway which was brightly lit. After a lengthy period we were then ushered into the function area which was a marquee on an old tennis court. This was very nicely decorated and my spirits lifted if only for a short time. It was a cold Tasmanian night. There was NO heating and a cold breeze came through. Being in formal evening wear we all FROZE. The food was less than average and the service likewise. No pepper and salt on the tables which was needed to give the food some flavour. The food was cold to luke warm so nothing there to warm us up. After dinner and the formalities of the night had finished we then went to another room which had a clear dance floor over an old swimming pool that still had some water and pool cleaning equipment in it in it. Tacky silver lining on the ceiling and wall. We then found a small area to one side with heaters where some of us sat for the rest of the evening trying to thaw out. There were some deserts served there that were almost inedible. Some people left early in taxis, not waiting for the buses that brought us there. The drive in was not at all suitable for buses and did not appear to be very safe. We could not wait to get back to our hotel for a hot shower and to thaw out.
Glen albyn estate is an outstanding place. the view is picturesque, the service is excellent and the food is absolutely delicious. this was a true "willing to tasmania' experience complete with local products. the kanapes, the escaped and the lush buffet were divine. the selection of some...Fawidth is extremely difficult, but I would have to say that beef tartare on roggen toast with rust cream and crispy wobble kanape, the fresh sashimi entree was world class. for the net, they thought the braided and roasted bark shank and pork belly (house speciality) were more back. when it comes to dessert. there are too many wonderful options! fantastic experience all around. many thanks bernadette and judy xo
The restaurant is situated on a beautiful property with delicious food. They handled a large crowd very well during our conference dinner. It is recommended to visit during daylight hours to enjoy the view.
