If you're passing by and feeling hungry, be sure to stop by this family-run bar. The food may not be considered fine dining, but you will be well taken care of by the family that manages this establishment. I ordered the fillet steak with vegetables and potatoes, and it was cooked perfectly. I left feeling satisfied and really enjoyed my meal. View all feedback.

A group of 8 of us had a meal in Ulicks Bar Farreenfour lately besides one child's meal of Chicken Chips which was eaten the 7 of us could not eat the food. It was tasteless . Would never go back View all feedback.
I ordered a steak meal which came with jacket potatoes, roast potatoes, vegetables, chips, and peppered sauce. The steak was sour and the potatoes had been reheated to the point where they were hard and tasteless. The restaurant/bar could definitely use some improvements. The bartender was very pleasant, but I will not be returning to the Sherwood.

After a long drive back from Dublin we were starving and stopped at this bar. The cutlery was slammed down in front of us, as we were given dirty menus.....should have known to run then. Giving this place the benefit of the doubt was a mistake. Ordered a chicken supreme costing 12.95. I assumed it would be of the standard served in other local establishments for this price.....it was not! What arrived was a chicken breast that had been squashed in a George foreman and smothered so much in pepper, I could feel grit between my teeth. It was covered in a packet mushroom sauce with a load of heaped mushrooms thrown in....the presentation was diabolical as was the taste of the rancid sauce! The side was two big dirty boiled spuds in their jackets, which I didn't touch and a few bits of carrot and broclli that had something like either cheese or butter on them.....I didn't care to find out. A most appalling meal for 12.95 I wouldn't dare serve something so awful at home never mind for public consumption. Don't waste your money here!
It can be confusing. The big sign says Sherwood but everyone here calls it Ulick 's . It must be one of those Irish historical things I fail to understand. The pub is divided into three zones. There 's a very attractive restaurant at the back. The left front section is often empty while the right hand section teems with throngs of people watching sport. Seating is comfier in the empty section and there is little noise, other than that produced by the other room. Beer is excellent. I have rarely tasted a better pint of Murphy 's and the Guinness is very tasty. The food, alas, is variable. The chowder I had was a really substantial soup, filled with local seafood and accompanied by fine soda bread. That 's the best thing on the menu. I 'd eat that every day, if I could. My prawns with pasta appeared to be two different dishes. The prawns were very fresh and utterly delicious. But the pasta had not been drained properly and was very watery and over-cooked. It was limp and truly horrible. I always finish spaghetti because it 's one of my favourite foods. This time, I only got about halfway through before feeling waterlogged. Chips and potatoes were perfectly adequate. I 've had steak twice, here. Once, it was amazing and the other time (the same cut) was ordinary. A side dish of vegetables featured outstanding swedes, perfectly cooked. The portion sizes are very generous but the quality does vary, even on the same plate. The owners are very hand-on and welcoming and take care to ask if you are enjoying the meal. And mostly, over two visits, I did. Stick to the chowder and the beer and you can 't go wrong. Risk a steak or fish and you might find heaven, or just a meal on earth.
Recently visited for Sunday lunch were we sorry. Soup was bland kids mash was a potatoe peeled and mashed on a plate lamb with stuffing was slices of lamb on a plate covered with stuffing and gravy. Lasagne didn't even taste like lasagne. Potatoes not even fully boiled. All in all everything slapped on a plate and the looked horrid. Couldn't eat the lamb as there was a taste from it. Never going back. Awful
