Had dinner here as part of a 1 night stay in the hotel. From start to the finish, this was excellent. The waiters were friendly and attentive, atmosphere was relaxed, and the menu was varied. Add to that a great wine list, and you are onto a winner. View all feedback.

We dined in the lake room on Thursday and it was well worth the experience. The oyster starters were spectacular followed by sea bass main course. Everything went so well together, it was a culinary delight. Our waiter Jack provided excellent service. He knew the menu well and shared tips on what to expect from the dish so there were no surprises he advised the oysters were cooked which I wasn’t expecting, but so worth it. We got some amazing cocktails and Jack was well versed in what the bar stocked and what best to serve with the cocktail. My other half is an aspiring mixologist and was well impressed with his old fashioned and the espresso martini was on point! I’d highly recommend and return again! Worth the splurge!
Although we didn't stay at this hotel, we were advised to check it out for a meal or drink with a view. The interior of the hotel was beautiful, and I would definitely consider staying there for at least one night when we come back to Kerry. The food was delicious, and the view from the dining room was truly spectacular.
I wish I had liked this place better. As mentioned, the location is gorgeous! And it was crowded, so it must be popular. The food was okay. It did not stand out. The table service was a little less than okay, but I can make allowances for them being busy. I had fish and chips. I've been having a lot of this lately, and the food here was . . . Okay . The portions were generous. On the plus side, they perfectly poured a cold Murphy's beer! We'll not be back to eat.
The Lake Hotel really is in the most gorgeous setting and this is their big advantage. I had lunch here just recently, and while everything is tasty, I felt it was a bit lacking in presentation perhaps... it just looked a bit hotel-y . I had the open prawn sandwich, the prawns were delicious, but the dressed leaves garnish looked tired. My friend had the roast of the day, which she said tasted excellent, but really looked like one of those meals you get at a wedding where they are serving up 200 of the same... Two had the seafood chowder, nice but not a patch on a chowder they had a day earlier in a pub in Killarney town. This combined with the waiter insisting to my friend that they didn 't have soda water and lime, and that his mamma always told him to never argue with a woman, even when she is wrong left a slightly sour taste in our mouths. Having said that, the other staff are always great, and very accommodating. I do think a little bit of work on the food presentation would go a long way, the setting is so fantastic, the food should match. I can 't fault the taste of the food, hence the very good mark above.
