The food at Castlelough Restaurant in the Lake Hotel is always delicious. They offer an excellent menu, excellent service, and a lovely atmosphere with views overlooking the lake (and sometimes deer on the lawn outside). View all feedback.

I tried to book a table for the last day of our fantastic trip to Killarney. I was disappointed to find out that the restaurant only served residents. The website states that "non-residents are welcome in the restaurant." Please update your website to avoid confusion. View all feedback.

High end Irish is really high end. Part of the Lake Hotel in Killarney, this restaurant is the fanciest we have seen in this beautiful country. Venison, rabbit, lamb were all delicious and really well prepared. Very friendly service. Prices were on the high side for Ireland, but probably half of what you would spend in New York.
During our stay at the Lake Hotel, my wife and I dined here for two breakfast meals and one amazingly romantic dinner. For breakfast, we had everything from smoke salmon to an open-faced omelet to finally some delicious Irish porridge. However, it was the dinner that was absolutely wonderful. First, we had ab amuse-bouche to amuse the mouth on the house. For an appetizer, my wife had an amazing calamari tortellini with vegetable salsa and potato and leek cream. I went with the Scots Pine smoked salmon with pickled shallots, confit lemon, dill oil, burnt lemon powder, and horseradish cream. My wife's main was an absolutely amazing pan seared loin of local Kerry lamb. It was a Wellington of slow braised lamb shoulder, velvet cloud sheep yogurt gel, roasted baby beetroot, pickled mustard seeds and red wine jus. I selected the special, which was a seared fillet of wild turbot with sprouting broccoli, pickeld Jerusalem artichokes, in a shellfish cream. However, the hit of the night was the BEST scalloped cheese potatoes with a healthy dusting of pistachio dish to share. Of course, we also had Irish brown bread with Irish butter. We imbibed an excellent Albariño from Spain. What an outstanding meal!
After eating a mediocre breakfast in this room, I didn’t expect much from the dinner. I ordered short ribs and they were wonderful. They served tons of vegetable and they were cooked wall and tasty.
Beautiful food presentation. Fancy, elegant food. Beautiful setting by the lake. Very courteous staff. Loved both dinner and breakfast there!
