What User doesn't like about Victorian Castle Kitchen:
We had the misfortune of eating in this cafe and paying €22 for tiny pieces of cake and vit hit drinks. The waitress was nice and the guy was very unfriendly and he forget to give us cutlery and then glasses and also came over and said we owe more as they charge wrong too. I said it was already extremely expensive and he said it is a restaurant and I said I’m aware of restaurant charges but I expect cutlery and glass... View all feedback.
Imagine a very fancy version of the Downton Abbey kitchen beautifully restored in the Castle tower basement, ceilings lit high overhead by windows, antique stove next to comfortable couches from which you could enjoy a selection of Victorian dishes like chicken mushroom ham, beef Guinness and beef cottage pie, or plain ol' soups/salads/sandwiches; as well as café staples (beverages and pastries). This place was awesome little tea room under the castle clean, nice little decor in the basement of the castle in what appears to be the kitchen of the castle
Visited Kilkenny castle today and had light lunch in the castle tea rooms. Nice surroundings in the Victorian kitchen and a fantastic selection of really tasty cakes. Probably about choice of 20 all fresh and moist and delicious looking. Also offered sandwiches, jacket potatoes, toasties, quiches and salads. Our group had some sandwiches and also rocky road, chocolate brownie, chocolate slice and lemon Madeira yummy!
Popped in recently for coffee and cake with grandchildren and we all thoroughly enjoyed it ! Lovely cozy atmosphere, great coffee and exceptional service !! Will be back.
