Contribute FeedbackPalmerstown Manor House presents a mixed bag of experiences. While some guests praise the stunning venue, picturesque grounds, and attentive staff, others report significant declines in quality, particularly regarding food and service. Complaints range from a disappointing afternoon tea hosted in a nondescript clubhouse to lackluster wedding meals that did not meet expectations. Despite certain struggles, a few visitors have enjoyed positive dining experiences, especially during events for families. The picturesque setting remains a draw, but potential patrons are advised to carefully consider offerings and location, as inconsistencies in service and ambiance have become apparent.
I booked afternoon tea based on what appeared to be an event at the House. The photos on the website looked lovely and the perfect setting for a special afternoon. The website is a complete misrepresentation which shows the Manor House on the actual Afternoon tea menu. It says Enjoy a relaxing Afternoon Tea experience in the stunning surroundings of Palmerstown House Estate . Now that really covers a multitude! You are looking out at a golfcourse. It could be anywhere! There is absolutely NO indication that tea is in another completely dull modern building a lengthy drive away from the Manor. Inside the clubhouse, we were the ONLY table stuck in a big open room with 2 large tv screens showing a golfing competition and big golf boards everywhere! Service was really slow though we were the only people eating. Some men were having pints. And a gang came in to watch the tvs. I had researched various possibilities and downloaded menus and specifically chosen this one for a special day with my friend. Instead we could have been in any golf club! There was no ambience or even an attempt at any! To say we were disappointed is an understatement. It is simply cashing in on afternoon tea trade. It uses the Manor to catch you. What a complete waste of money and a day.
I have visited this restaurant several times. The golf course is nice, but there is a lot of walking between the greens and tees. The course is well-maintained and the staff in the clubhouse are very friendly. The food from the clubhouse is delicious. It is definitely worth a visit. I have heard that their Christmas events for kids are fantastic.
Having attended a family wedding there recently the venue is terrific and the staff were lovely. Its a pity that the venue is let down by the food. The wedding meal was quite ordinary and definitely average. The vegetables were just passable and not piping hot. Some of the rooms are very noisy in the aftermath so no point trying to retire before band is well gone.Breakfast was really very good, five stars there.
Unless your children are under 3 . Stay away. Absolutely awful. 100 euro for odd few lights in a garden . Santa was worse fake Santa I have ever witnessed. Didn’t even speak or ask my 2nd child any questions . Just awful. Looked like a character from bad Santa movie .
We have been coming to this restaurant with our daughter for three years, and it has definitely declined in quality. We will not be returning. As a gift, our daughter received a very cheap, broken, and unwrapped puzzle. It was a disappointment to receive such a disgraceful present after spending nearly 70 euros for a meal for three people. We would not recommend this restaurant. It used to be good, but now they are cutting corners with half the staff and seem to be getting greedy.
