M... read more This restaurant is perhaps the most high-end place you can go to in Kiel. Both the food and the service are worlds apart from what I have seen in town so far. My first impression was very good I was warmly welcomed by a...lovely waitress, that took my jacket and led me to my table. She knew already what I would be ordering, due to my reservation and made sure I was comfortable. Wanting to fully experience what the restaurant had to offer, I opted for the tasting menu together with full wine pairing. From the very start of my visit, the staff made sure I would enjoy every minute of it by providing me with an unannounced set of mini-appetizers and a very enjoyable amuse-bouche. Then the sequence of dishes started to come out of the kitchen. Every dish was highly enjoyable and consistent with the style of the restaurant. It is obvious the chef enjoys experimenting with sorbets and ice cream as well as interesting herbs such as shiso or samphire. As expected of a fine dining establishment the portions were small but refined, with great attention to every detail. Each dish had its own distinct character and style and all were consistent in their expression of the chef's culinary skills. Small creative touches brought the dishes together, such as the use of sorbets and mousses. The whole experience was made even better by a very friendly staff that did their best to discuss the dishes and were happy to answer any questions. My feedback after each tasting was duly conveyed back to the kitchen. While definitely in the higher price range, this restaurant is a great place to visit for a refined culinary experience and I would recommend it to all food lovers.

We had a fabulous evening, the menu was explained in very good English by the attentive waitress. The food was super, tasty and sufficient, not too much and not too...little. We had scallop and duck liver to begin. Then rabbit and pork dishes, for dessert blood orange assortment and a cheese plate. All was soooooo tasty and we'll presented and explained when taken to the table by the wonderful waitress. We had Saint Laurent red wine, which was superb. We didn't meet the Chef to say thank you, but to all we say, thank you at Weinstein we had a wonderful evening.

The amuse-bouche and incredible salmon starter were good indicators that we picked the right place. Great wine list.

The roll... read more 5-star rolls that would make even the toaster jealous! Let's be honest: If you have breakfast at Schweinske in the morning, you've already won the day. The rolls? So fresh, they probably only found out they were baked shortly before. The taste is simply amazing – it even lifts your mood. The service is so friendly, I briefly thought I was at my mom's for dinner. Fast, warm, attentive – you immediately feel welcome. And the ambiance? Truly chic! You eat with your eyes, and that's saying something if you only came for the rolls. And seriously: The prices almost make you feel guilty – almost! Because you get a lot of quality for your money here. Some establishments could learn a thing or two (from their bread). Conclusion: Schweinske rocks – and I'll be back.
