The Derwentwater - Keswick

Stayed here one night, first room we were given was very depressing, dated awfully decorated and not at all worth even £70. HOWEVER when asked if there was a slightly better room there was no hesitation, a room with a lovely lake view, still a bit dated but much better and more acceptable. Very clean room, spacious and a bargain with the good breakfast included. Lovely friendly staff. Perfect cheap hotel for a quick stop over bearing in mind it is old...

Cheap and convenient but could really do with making sure the apartments are properly kitted out. Do bring everything with you, washing up liquid, soap, cloths, t towels etc Rooms: 2 Service: 3 Location: 2

Stayed here recently with my wife for a weekend (well one night) left after one night and booked somewhere else. This place could be nice but needs a lot of work all over and some more staff, it’s like it’s being run on a shoestring ! Main issue was the bed, it was like a mattress you’d find in a skip and it was on top of two cardboard boxes pushed together. Didn’t get any sleep whatsoever and asked at reception to try and sort something, they did change but no difference and said to put a duvet underneath lol told them it wasn’t good enough and they didn’t seem bothered or shocked they were too busy gossiping about a staff member. The bar was super short staffed with one person which led to long queues and one woman serving food, I felt sorry for them. Would not recommend!
