Unfortunately on 1 of our visits when we had just called in for a drink, 2 customers were openly vaping at the bar area. It would appear they were well known and the staff quite happily ignored what they were doing. I am asthmatic and with the smell affecting my chest I had to leave!!! Had this not happened I would be giving this review 5 .

They forgot to bring our drinks and one of our meals. We didn't feel valued or welcomed at all. The food was average, with a rating of 3 out of 5. However, the service was horrendous, with a rating of 1 out of 5. It's a shame because this place has the potential to be nice.

We were hosting guests from England, and w... read more We visited The Mayfly on a Sunday evening, having booked on for food on the recommendation of a few different people. We were hosting guests from England, and were hoping for a good experience. We were seated promptly and received our drinks. The order was taken promptly too, and we didn’t have to wait too long for our food. The food overall was good, however the waitress, on seeing some of us with empty plates, came and began to clear the table before one of our guests had finished eating. The poor lady felt rushed and handed her plate over, still with the remainder of her food on it. No acknowledgement from the waitress. Nor was there an offer of dessert or more drinks. Perhaps they needed to turn the table quickly (which seemed unlikely we hadn’t taken long to eat our meals, and the restaurant wasn’t overly busy), but whatever the reason, it was a somewhat disappointing experience. I’d go back for the food, but I couldn’t recommend the service on this occasion.
