Horns Up - Kenton-on-Sea

I had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was not up to par, with the prawns being overcooked and dried out. The service was decent, but overall, it didn't make up for the lackluster lunch.

The food and service were excellent; both the staff and the owner checked in on us and provided attentive service. The atmosphere was wonderfully relaxed, and the plating was done efficiently. However, as a person of color, I did find the other patrons to be unwelcoming. My country still has a long way to go in embracing diversity in spaces that have historically been exclusive. I noticed some people literally hiding their phones when we walked in, which made for an awkward conversation with my husband and kids. Nonetheless, the overall experience at the restaurant was positive, and the food was fantastic. The cocktails are likely to be amazing as well. We choose to support local businesses to help create jobs and work towards a more inclusive society. I would definitely return.

The atmosphere is incredible, located right by the river. The menu is limited but provides some good options. This is a pop-up restaurant, open only from December to early January. You can get there via a rough dirt road or by boat on the river.

This place is absolutely stunning, with beautiful views of the river and boats passing by, making it a great spot to enjoy drinks. However, if you're looking to eat, I'd suggest going elsewhere. You could drive to PE for KFC and come back, and your order would still likely take longer to be ready. The manager is incredibly rude, telling patrons to just deal with the long wait (at least two hours), and I've even seen him throwing plates at his staff in the kitchen while appearing drunk. It's truly disappointing. The food itself doesn't offer good value either; for R110 or more, you get a burger that's far from tasty. I’d recommend this place only for drinks. Honestly, they might be better off closing the kitchen and installing a vending machine as a more reliable option.
