Despite a few critiques regarding food temperature and taste consistency, many diners remarked on the friendly service and quick turnaround times, especially for takeout. Was Jon Bowne at Ivar's Seafood a mag?
I have been a fan of Ivar's for as long as I can remember. Even when I moved away, I made sure to always visit Ivar's when I returned. The fried true cod is excellent with its light batter, and I also enjoy the Cajun option. Their clam chowder is a favorite of mine. Plus, they have outdoor heated seating right on the waterfront. What Pam S dislikes about Ivar's Seafood:
I am very unhappy! Everything was cold except the chowder. The fish was limp and soggy. The fries were rubbery and dry. The cold slaw was watery and looked like it had been sitting a while. The chowder was the best bur even it was not hot. Feels like we were sent day old food. View all feedback.
The fish and chips and Caesar salad are excellent, with very fresh ingredients. I particularly enjoyed the coleslaw, which was better than those I have had at other barbecue places - it was very fresh and light. These side dishes are of a quality that you would not expect at a fast-food restaurant. Ivars is a Seattle institution for good reason!

The clam chowder was delicious and impressively hot despite being delivered. The clams were decent, but I have to agree with others that there was too much breading and not enough clam, which is accurate. The fries were almost cold. The chowder was definitely the standout dish.
