The restaurant has excellent service, cold beer, and air conditioning which are all very important on the hottest day of the year. They also have very good social distancing measures in place. View all feedback.
What Kellyrogers1718 doesn't like about Cromwell Tavern:
Five of us came in for a meal, we were approached by one of the staff members telling us we needed to go to the till to which we replied we were still choosing our meals. Three of us had burger and chips, fish and chips and a chicken makhani. The Aberdeen Angus burger and chips were lovely, the cod and chips was okay and the curry was watery. We were there at happy hour so we had a 3pint tavern cider jug for £13 so w... View all feedback.
Come in during a game and all you’ll find are locals cheering on their team. The bartenders are friendly and always give a wave if I’m just passing thru. The burgers, nachos, garlic bread and tiki masala are my go to items. Stop in and have a pint while you enjoy your favorite football (or other sport) on the tellie!
Popped in for a couple of pints and watch a bit of sport. Beer is pricey but probably average for the area. Got served quickly and it was friendly enough. Can’t say it’s a great place but ok for a pint or 2.
No matter what table you sit (we tried 3) you can clearly feel the cold air as soon as someone enters or leaves the tavern. We have not been notified for 15 minutes that you have to place the order at the bar. This is basically OK, but it should not be communicated to you only on request. 25 minutes after the order came our main dishes. The hint that we had ordered appetizers was answered in a pampig-like manner, and they will come sometime. I then asked if it was so common that the appetizer was served after the main course. I had to listen to that, and the succession of the ranks doesn't matter. The food (Rainbow burger, fish chips and nachos) was mushy, lukewarm and unspoiled.
This bar use to be called the Pub of Pubs back in the 80 's and has been called The Tavern for years now. Nice large hotel style pub with excellent staff and service and reasonable prices. Food is generally good but not amazing (mind you it 's hard to find amazing pub food in London anymore). Excellent outdoor large seating area for the summer. They seem to have live music Friday nights which was excellent. Open very late for London pub hours so always a perfect spot for a nightcap.
Yesterday was fantastic. We enjoyed a quiet early evening drink. Unfortunately, we won't be trying this place again. We had high hopes for a good ending to our fantastic evening, but we were disappointed.
