It was our first time in the little barn. the atmosphere, the ambiente and the service were wonderful. our starter was deviled eier, they were very tasty. our appetizer was brussel sprudelchips, they were delicious. our main dishes were fish cakes and spicy lobster mac and cheese. fish cake was delicious and a good value. the lobster mac was a great disappointment. it costs $30, was a very small part with microscopic/minuscular lobster pieces, and extremely salty. in retrospect, I should have sent it back, but I did not want to complain. despite the price $16), we thought that the brownie and caramel ice sound good, so we shared it. the brownie was warm and tasty, but there was only a very small part of ice. for $16 it should have been a generous or even sufficient amount of ice. I don't need a huge part to make me happy, just be reasonable with her price in terms of serving. I wanted to love the little barn, but unfortunately it was disappointing.
The short nativity was amazing as the mix, but the roasted chicken came dry without much taste and uncooked kartoffels and the spicy lobster Mac-n-cheese had far too few lobster pieces for this price! the server was fantastic and attentive and the ambiente is top-class, so was naturally disappointed that the dishes were not consistent!
Valet service was a surprise and neat to have. I had a misommar cocktail and it was superb. Worth it.
I ordered a “hot” toddie that arrived luke warm. The Take II was a little warmer not hot. At least the requested accoutrements that normally come with this fall cocktail were included the second go. Our server only had one other table at most. She did not check in on us after serving our dinner. She was very pleasant, but my mound of fresh fries were nearly gone by the time more ketchup arrived. My husband’s chicken was nothing to write home about. The Brussel sprouts were divine as was the Little Gem salad. We had to ask another server for more water. Yet another server emptied the waste baskets while we finished our dinner. The White Barn did not have a single soul in it. They would do well to put their Little Barn guests in the big barn when this happens. At least the ambiance would have been an A+ experience, if the food, drinks and service are not. For $200 for three people w/tip the Little Barn has much to improve. Especially now that they have competition from the likes of Wandby Landing.
Delicious food (mussels, chicken pot pie, and miso cod), mellow classy vibe, and lovely service. Great experience all around!
