The whole experience was delightful. The staff were friendly and approachable, and appeared to have great environment which helped the evening be very comfortable. The food was good enough that I would love to come back again for more. All in all, it was worth the money, and I do recommend the ice tea cocktail; it's delicious. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sichuan Bang Bang Kenmore:
this place is very rated and especially recommended for perennial food, so my expectations were high. there is nothing wrong that emphasizes, except at the high level of msg/salt level, but it is lacking the bang that they expect to eat from themselves. my old favorite mapo tofu was best moderate, much more water than what I expected. traditional green beans were hard in mosg and salt, exaggerated other aromes. the s... Have recently been here after about 6 months break and have found the usual quality, a little slipped, yet pleasant, but simply not as good as it was
I had the Sichuan beef, it was more than $20, and was completely disappointing, I have no idea how this place gets positive reviews at all. its overly expensive and the food is not great compared to other Chinese restaurants in Brisbane, and its not even in the same league as a proper Sichuan restaurant in china.
Takeaway seriously disappointing. The fried beans with minced pork is usually a favourite but I expect to get more than a scant teaspoon of minced pork for $18. The Hunan salt, pepper and chilli squid appetiser was quite tasteless. Thank goodness for the bottle of fish sauce from the pantry! It's simply not enough to throw some chilli in and call that flavour.
I had the pleasure of being squeezed into this restaurant with my family and as much as we enjoyed it, all we could talk about was how cramped it was. There was no room to swing a dead cat, namely because the dead cat was already being prepared in the kitchen... Joking. Excellent food, but I am hanging out for the Peking duck night that I have been told they have. Hopefully the duck will be easier to swing around the room.
If you love spicy food, then the Sichuan Fish Hot Pot is for you! The burn just builds. We have never been able to go here without ordering it. The chicken fried rice and vegetable dishes are all good, but some of the fried dishes have been a little hit and miss lately. Overall the dishes are uniquely Sichuan and its a great place to order a bunch of dishes to share. Just be sure to book a table as they get really busy. I noticed the menu has a couple new dishes at the Paddington restaurant so I'm looking forward to giving them a go.
