Lunch with a colleague was good as usual. Hadn't visited for a while but always a comfortable and reliable place to come back to. Quiche base could have done with better cooking but was tasty and colleagues salad very good View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Lou's Cafe Restaurant:
The worst burgers, $26 for 2 burgers that we had to pick our way through. You can't really mess up a burger but this place did. The buns were wet, uncooked with lashings of margarine. I won't go on. We could not get out of the place fast enough. View all feedback.
Had the early bird breakfast which consisted of 2 eggs bacon 2 slices of toast and a piece of grilled tomato absolutely beautiful you can have your eggs fried poached or scrambled Worth a visit to Lous Cafe Highly Recommended
10/10 the works burger. Very quick service. Great coffee. Perfect atmosphere. Good for road trips. Off the beaten track but worth the detour.
We stopped at Kempsey looking for some breakfast. After walking around the town, we found Lou's Cafe. The layout was nice featuring early movie memorabilia. The was plenty of seating with a lot of booth's which we like. The service was good as was the food and coffee. We thought the pricing showed good value as the meals were big. We enjoyed our stop here.
Step into Lou's and you have entered a time machine that transports you bach to the 1950s. Apart from cooking equipment and EFTPOS machines, this place hasn't really changed since the day it opened and that is a very good thing! The decor is 1950s unaltered. The theme is cinema (was there one nearby in days past?). Lou's Cafe's two rooms are filled with booths and its walls covered by movie posters and film stars' photos. The posters are mainly for B Grade films in the restaurant and for Oscar winners in the cafe section. The malted milkshakes we tried were excellent, really excellent. If you are in Kemsey and want a trip in a time machine.....this is THE place!
We always call in on our way north and are never disappointed. If you're looking for a quick, reasonably priced meal, you can't go wrong. Only suggestion for small eaters would be to share a meal with a friend 'cause they are huge portions (sorry Lou).
