Surf Side California Street Food

I really used to enjoy Surf Side tacos. I always went and ordered their tofu tacos whenever I was in town, and would recommend them to friends. Unfortunately, the last time I visited will be my last visit to them. I requested to have my order without the sauce that comes with the tofu tacos because it is not vegan-friendly. This has never been an issue before, and the staff have always been incredibly accommodating so I was surprised when I was told they had to put the sauce on the tacos. They suggested I order a different taco but all of their others contain meat/seafood, and I am vegan. I further explained this, giving context for my request, thinking they may have misunderstood. It was still a flat out no. I understand this food truck does not allow ingredient substitutions and I totally respect that. However, I wasn’t asking for a substitution, just an omission. And they were not kind about it. To add insult to injury, while my friend was waiting for her food, another person came up to place an order and requested to remove the sauce from her tacos because she doesn’t like spice. Not only did they tell her that wouldn’t be an issue but offered to make a substitution for her. So I guess it is just vegans they don’t like. On the bright side, I visited another food truck vendor at this festival, who had some of the best tacos I’ve ever eaten, offered vegan options, and was so incredibly kind and friendly. If not for Surf Side’s poor customer service, I may never have found my new Okanagan taco spot. Cheers.

I checked out their food truck at the Armstrong rodeo, and we were so very pleased. I got the fish and zucchini tacos, and my husband got the burrito. We loved it!!! The zucchini taco was absolutely delicious, as well as the fish.On top of that, the owner is one of the loveliest ladies I’ve met!!I ? recommend this food truck

The fish taco was the most amazing thing I’ve ever put in my mouth! Amazing quality and fast! I wanted something to make me feel good and that’s exactly what their food did! Amazing service as well! I will be back!
