We had the pleasure of dining at the Maple Leaf. The sear scallops were cooked perfectly and the presentation was a visual delight. The Asian influenced salmon was also perfect. The halibut was seasoned lightly with a saffron sauce and was also cooked perfectly. The service was spot on...not to over bearing but with enough attention to not want for anything. This restaurant is a gem in a city with MANY restaurants to choose from. Bravo to staff and management.
We booked this restaurant for dinner a month in ad Vance for our last night in Banff. We were shown to a table in the outer fringes of the restaurant sandwiched between the waiters' preparation area (lots of clinking of cutlery), and, just through a semi-curtain, a large function (probably a wedding party) which was (not unsurprisingly) pretty noisy. I don't think I'm being that choosy in expecting that if I'm in a restaurant which charges CAD40+ for main courses, then I ought to be able to hear what the person on the other side of the table is saying to me. We asked the waiter if they had another table but they said not. So we got up and left - first time I have ever done this in a restaurant.
