We recently visited a restaurant and I decided to try some appetizers, which were fantastic. If you've ever painted, you understand that you don't have much time to eat while you're painting, so I ordered the manicotti to go. It was so delicious that I can't wait to come back and enjoy a proper sit-down meal. I highly recommend you give it a try!
Wonderful family-run restaurant! The staff is friendly and attentive. The food is excellent, ranging from delicious pizza to prime rib. It's great to see them as part of the community!
My family had visited Gigi’s several times with their monthly dinner group and had positive experiences, so I was excited to try it for myself on my birthday. I specifically looked forward to dining in the main room with a view of the Ausable River. Since it was a Friday night (October 1), we thought it best to make a reservation. When we arrived, we were informed that the main room was closed for a private event, and we were seated in the bar area instead. This information was not communicated when I made the reservation, or I would have chosen to visit Gigi’s on another night. Instead of a relaxing dinner with a beautiful river view, we were in a noisy bar filled with TVs and lottery drawings. In retrospect, we should have gone to Plattsburgh, but we decided to make the best of our situation. The service was timely and friendly, but not exceptional. My family mentioned it was my birthday, and while the waitress wished me a happy birthday, there was no complimentary dessert, which many other restaurants offer. As for the meal, it was a mixed bag. My mother ordered the duck, which she said was overcooked and the toughest cut of duck she had ever eaten. Most of it ended up going home for the dog. My fettucine Alfredo was disappointing; it was served in a watery sauce rather than the thick sauce I was expecting, which I’ve experienced in many other restaurants. On the other hand, my father enjoyed his scallops, which were perfectly cooked and plentiful. He was generous enough to share a few with me, noticing that I was dissatisfied with my choice. I really wanted to enjoy this restaurant and have a memorable experience trying somewhere new that was a bit out of our way, but unfortunately, it just didn’t meet expectations this time. I might consider giving them another chance in the future, but certainly not in the near term. On a side note, a week later, the health department reported a potential Covid spread event at Gigi’s due to the private event on the night we visited. Thankfully, no one from our party felt unwell after our visit.
