This is my first visit to the Katy site, but by the look it is exactly what I expected... classic Texas decoration, fun games to entertain, friendly smiles as we are greeted by the staff and a beautiful, fresh salad bar awaits my return. Ha! Smiling all around!<br/ <br/ As they say in Texas, this is not my first rodeo. I've been here for a long time at the Double D of the Peproni Rolls and Philly Cheese Steak Stromboli. I remember going to DoubleDaves Pizzaworks as a child and even then the environment was amazing. The fun family-friendly atmosphere is a direct reflection of philosophy here. Everyone participates in the support of the local community and organizations through fundraisers and hosting events. Fun, fun, fun!<br/ <br/ Ok, now we don't let it twist. Double room Dave's Pizzaworks creates ahhmazing pizzas, but they're not just a pizza compound. They have baked sandwiches, 4 styles of Stromboli, a salad bar no one, and of course their famous Peproni Rolls. If you have not enjoyed Peproni Roll at DoubleDave, you have not really enjoyed yourself. This is the birthplace of the Peproni Roll. Check out the fresh dough made daily and filled with smoked provolone and pepperoni and immersed in a freshly made red sauce or its proprietary ranch sauce. Is THAT something you would be interested in?<br/ <br/ Well, it's Friday, this is my job and I have things to do! Ha! That's an inside joke, Craig. <br/ <br/ The first thing I do after running through the doors is to go straight to the counter and order a Top Texas Craft Beer at the celebration of “Craft Beer Friday a local Katy, Texas, favorite El Hefe by No Label Brewing Company. I love El yeast it is light and refreshing with a wonderful hint of banana and citrus. I am a happy man! <br/ <br/ For this visit I brought my whole crew with me... so I get to taste a little of everything on the menu. Some of my friends had never experienced DoubleDaves Pizzaworks... And that was great! I have to break in some newcomers and change life at the same time. We started with sandwiches. My two favorites arrived at the same time and we separated them for everyone to try. The whole table was enthusiastic about both: the meatball and chicken Cordon Bleu.<br/ <br/ The Meatball Sandwich is a warm Tuscan baguette with freshly prepared tomato sauce, smoked provolone, cut Italian meatballs, Parmesan Romano cheese oregano. The big meatballs are extremely tasty and the tomato sauce is for dying! I always demand extra parmesan and romano because I just love how it is softened by the red sauce... makes my taste buds burst with joy! The Peproni Rolls appeared first and I hurried in... Ha! You'd think I'd learn my lesson, but I can never wait to eat these hot, naughty bites of heaven! These signature rolls are made with pepperoni smoked provolone cheese packed in a handcuffed crust with homemade red or Ranch sauce. Definitely choose Ranch, the house made Ranch here is just another thing DoubleDave is famous for and with good reason! The Peproni reels are addicted and on another level when immersed in a bath of ridiculous Ranch Dressing. Yum: <br/ <br/ My next adventure had a strong East Coast accent. The Philly Cheesesteak Stromboli came hot with fresh cheese from the end. You're kidding. I have butterflies! This jewel has mozzarella, white American cheese and thin cut beef steak all folded together in their handmade pizza crust. I could have eaten the whole thing myself, but I was nice enough to share. The beef steak is so tasteful and juicy, and the cheese speaks only for itself. The loads of cheesy Goodness!<br/ <br/ Pucketts Pie are next on my agenda highly stacked with paprika, mushrooms, jalapeños and mozzarella. That was my favorite topping choice since I was in high school. Friday night lights seem bright here in Texas and tonight they seem bright on these fresh, crispy, spicy jalapeños that go so well with rich pepperoni and mushrooms. Thin crust or deep dish, Pucketts Pie Pizza is sure to smile to this kiss!<br/ <br/ Double Daves Pizzaworks is one of my favorite places to enjoy a variety of pizzas, salads and Italian sandwiches. It is also a great place to hang and an adult drink with friends and family on Craft Beer Friday. Every time I go through the doors, I put my hand over my heart. If you have never tried one of their famous Peproni Rolls or the Philly Cheese Steak Stromboli, stop soon! Tell the beautiful house Ranch Dressing Puckett did, hello.
