Description

Basil Nut Cafe in Katoomba offers a truly delightful dining experience, with a mix of reviews from disappointed customers to ecstatic ones. While some were let down by inconsistent quality and misinformation about the dishes being vegan, others raved about the delicious food, particularly the beef and duck dishes. With a varied menu that includes gluten-free options and helpful staff, this Southeast Asian restaurant is praised by many for its flavorful dishes, large portion sizes, and cozy atmosphere. Overall, Basil Nut Cafe seems to be a hidden gem worth visiting for a memorable dining experience in the Blue Mountains.

I got the laksa made Vegan, very easy menu. Lots of vegan options and a few non vegan meals can be made vegan as well which was great! Will definitely be back!

This small but very busy restaurant has a decent amount of vegan options in a town with no vegan restaurants. Came here with a group of 6 (3 omnis, 2 vegans, 1 vegetarian) and they were super accommodating and service was pretty fast. Vegan options clearly labelled, both in the vegan and vegetarian mains section of the menu and throughout the rest of the menu. Four of us got vegan options and all of us enjoyed them. I got the 5 spice noodle soup and all the veggies were very fresh and the flavours were well balanced although a little on the sweet side I think it worked but it may not be to everyone's tastes. They brought us some fresh chopped chillis on request, which went well with the soup. Serving sizes were generous. The venue is quite small and a little cramped, and the seats are not very comfortable, but still a good option if you're looking to eat out or get takeaway here. Really enjoyed our salt and pepper trio and basil chili eggplant with a side of wild rice, ordered from the 'vegetarian and vegan ' section of the menu. Cosy, busy restaurant on the night we visited recommend booking with good service, food coming out quickly and reasonably priced.

Many of the meals can be adapted to be vegan and the staff are really helpful and understanding. I had Nasi Goreng which was delicious. It came with a variety of different tofu textures and lots of vegetables. Will definitely be back.
