Well it isn't the excellent cheese and ham wine bar it used to be that is for sure. This is a proper steakhouse with a serious and I mean serious wine list and prices to match although there were more than a few good finds. The dry aged ribeye was exceptional as was the wine. Service top notch. Highly recommended

Pretentious and way overpriced. The only good beef we had was with the servers. Unimaginably rude. Possibly the cows had bad karma, but the food they brought us left us equally unimpressed. London prices for a piece of meat with no sides included and be medium when asked for well-done and well-done when asked for medium. The interieur is nice but that is about it. I ate steaks in Vienna, Florence, Düsseldorf, New York, London and many other cities. What you get here is mediocre at best. Service, mediocre, food mediocre. I asked for a medium steak and got a well done one. This place mimics the mindset of most places in Prague. Post communism work ethics. What an experience! We visited over a dozen restaurants while visiting Prague and there's some phenomenal food out there. Monarch was a low point. We ordered great cuts and fine wine which would have been superb if my steak wasn't salted. It wasn't even on the line of «this could have been accidental» big chunks of salt sat atop my steak when it arrived which was hugely overpowering and ruined it entirely, alongside the 2 other steaks ordered by my friends it was rediculous.
