only the thing to note is that they use condensed milk on their Acai bowls, which we did not expect to use as other places that serve Acai bowls, it does not use. we tried a few of their acai dishes and thought that they were the best we had so far, we also had acai dishes of java kai and kaalalea juice hale. The interior is clean and spacious, with pictures of the entire menu displayed on the wall. The strawberry lemonade matcha tastes just as it sounds but has a uniquely delicious flavor. The lava flow is flavorful with a strong bubblegum aftertaste and is very rich. View all feedback.
Matcha-ya, as I found out, carries their own brand of matcha. If you are a fan of high grade matcha for chawan use or a latte that actually tastes like matcha and not sugar you will enjoy this matcha. The matcha lattes they make are a perfect color. The pineapple whipped was quite good as well.
Their shave ice is made in a Japanese shaver and the ice is very soft and fluffy! No crystals of ice. Flavors top notch
Simple shop; cleanly and spacious. Amazing matcha authentic; made into frappes or hot drinks. We enjoyed the matcha/strawberry matcha as well as the guava/matcha frappe. The mochi bars were delicious* A great stop when renting bikes from Hele Bike Rental a block away. Easy walk to the boardwalk and to the beach beyond.
Super delicious sweet treats! My wife and I got a mango and strawberry shaved ice with condensed milk on top; absolutely delicious! This was also the first restaurant/store on Kauai I have been to that was taking every safety precaution forCOVID-19; we?ve been two of only a handful of people we?ve seen on the island wearing masks, so it was refreshing to go to aplace that asked you to sanitize your hands before and after paying, AND all the employees were wearing masks. 10/10 wouldrecommend!
I have been on a quest in Hawaii to find the shave ice I had while an exchange student in Japan a decade ago now. This place gave me one better, something even nicer than what I had way back then. Even without the nostalgia, though, if you want a greatshave ice, soft serve ice cream, or a combination of the above, I don't know if there could be a better spot in the islands forit. Thank you very much, Matcha Ya! Oh, and for bonus points, if you want to rent a bike and come here, the reward is all thesweeter.
