Daves Hot Chicken

7-6-21: Stopped by for lunch on my way from San Diego to Santa Barbara... and ordered the combo with two sliders (medium spice level) and ????. Everything was super delicious ????. I really enjoyed the crinkle fries. The seasoning on the fries were very tasty. Would definitely come back again for more chicken sandwiches and fries. Service was exceptional. I needed to charge my phone and the workers offered to let me charge my phone behind their counter. Thank you team for allowing me to do that!

Staff were very nice and friendly and the food was amazing. We got the medium and mild tenders and slider and both were very good and not too spicy with great flavor. The fries could have been a little more cooked but were good. Overall an amazing experience.

Chicken is moist and perfectly seasoned. (medium spice) Kimberly took our order. She is polite, enthusiastic, cheerful, and helpful. Mac and cheese ????????????

Pretty basic. I got the extra hot and reaper. It was very tolerable. I know everyone has a different threshold, but I love these hot chicken spots and can tell the variation of spices each one has. Their spices at Dave's was very basic and bland, and didn't have very much spice too it considering it was their top level. Also, the sauce is a big thing with me since spice is pretty hard to mess up. Their house sauce is very bland and didn't alter or make different the taste of the sandwich AND the fries. Also, it would've been 4 stars but the customer service was horrible. Everyone was hanging around the registers chatting it up, they didn't welcome or thank any guests.

I would give a 4.5 if I could. The food is good, but I don't enjoy that everything is just chicken tenders. I understand that apparently that's the style (as seen in other hot chicken places) but I would expect a filet for a sandwich, or something that fits better. Dave's sauce is AMAZING and the main reason we love it here. Honestly just buy a ton of the sauce for the side. Great place!
