Was MrHappy4Life1 at Lava Java a mag?
The food here is fantastic! Everything was incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. I ordered the Local Fish Benedict, made with Ono, and it was seasoned just right, with a rich and delicious sauce. It was served on a tender, flaky croissant. I also tried the Passion Fruit Lemonade with Rum; while I felt the rum threw off the balance a bit, the lemonade itself was so delightful that I still enjoyed it. My wife... View all feedback.

What loveitoutdoors dislikes about Lava Java:
We were a party of 6, a family of 3 generations. The hostess was delightful on this Wednesday morning and accommodated us for our seating issues. The service was efficient and the food was delicious. We have always loved their eggs Benedict. However what happened at the end ruined our experience. The waitress publicly accused us of not giving her a tip. When my son-in-law looked at his receipt, the tip was there. View all feedback.

I had one of the best oat milk vanilla lattes EVER at this place! Paired with banana and macadamia nut topped pancakes (big enough to share). Island Lava Java is situated in a great spot near the Royal Kona resort and other notable hotels and vacation rentals. Only downside it is popular and that means BUSY so you may need to wait for a table AND a server. But go if for nothing else the COFFEE!!

This place used to have great food. It now seems to be a shadow of its former self. Remarkably mediocre food. Lost attention to details. The menu didn’t work. They gave us super small appetizer plates and some of the food fell on the ground. The Mac encrusted fish was not the same as a couple years ago, just deep fried fish with some sauce. Overall, skip it. Many better places nearby with the same view. Don’t believe me? Ask the locals.

Great brunch. Scrambled eggs with pineapple were delicious. Gorgeous view and lovely staff. Nearby shops good for souvenirs.Great after working up an appetite outrigging nearby!

I/we live in Kona: we are not snowbirds or tourists, although that shouldn't matter. I've eaten brunch here before and thought it was pretty good also eaten with Lava Java when they were in their next door location. Today, we ordered: one hamburger: one cheese burger one glass of white wine, one diet coke. We had the same experience as some of the other reviews: QR code, etc. Yes, I have a phone. Still, we've gone out to eat and would like someone to actually provide service. Yes, I looked at the menu on the QR code: waitress was not too happy that we didn't order electronically that I overlooked. Not everyone has a phone: not everyone wants to do it that way. Food arrived: french fries soggy and overly salted. The hamburger meat, although tasty enough, I suppose was cooked to order but the meat mixture was very dry. Hamburger bun big, slightly toasted, but dry. If you like dry hamburgers, and not what I like to think of as a nice juicy hamburger go here: if you want a nice juicy burger go to Ultimate Burger no view: but juicy burgers. I just think Lava Java should step it up a mark. I did tell the manager the meat was dry and he said he had never heard that before. Guess I'm the only person who has ever eaten here who would actually like to have some decent food; oh my: what ever was I thinking. Oh, and your patio area could really use a good scrub. It's fine, Lava Java, you can respond if you care to but I stand by my critique.
