coming from a German background and visiting Germany, often made me hesitate to try this place, as there is no possibility of food possibly corresponding to the standards of the local kitchen. our food was delicious and so tasteful. so glad that we have come over this place and will return. What Dovie Senger doesn't like about Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant:
Like many other posts before mine, I'm just reiterating what has been said before, minimal beer to choose from due to ordering issues (assumingly) and a pricey new bistro menu. My bottled beer was minimally colder than room temperature. Attentive staff trying to do the best they can with what they need to work with. Whilst we wait for our order to arrive, we notice most of the restaurant is aswell waiting.. A fully h... View all feedback.
I like German food - it is highly efficient and nutritious. I also really like sausages - and brotzeit has all the flavored. Great beer selection, and unlike Aussie bars they taste good. Mmmm fried chips. German bread, either in pretzel or hot dog bun form, is the happiest form of carb you can eat. Also depicted - hot chocolate (had a cold that day). They do great hot chocolate, not excessively sugary or milky. It's got a nice atmosphere and location, and the decor really stands out. Underrated.
We called for lunch and beer as we have on many occasions, only to find they had run out of wheat beer and did not have any make. I ordered the pork knuckle my wife the pork belly, my wife complained it was very dry and tastless. My pork knuckle was so dry and over cooked the meat was too hard to chew. we will not be returning.
When I ordered the Slow Cooked Beef I was expecting the German version of Beef Bourguignon. What a disappointment it was cheap silverside (even one member of staff agreed it was pretty awful but told us that they were forced to use this cheap cut of meat by Head Office). The rest of the meal was ok but I ended up paying $28 for a plate of mashed potato, three pieces of broccolini and some rather glutinous mushroom sauce. A member of staff did say she would pass on my comments but we didn't hear anything so we left as soon as we had eaten and I went home for some Lindt chocolate to make up for it!
You changed your menu and made it bistro and it sucks. All the menu items I loved have now gone and because of this I won't be returning. What a shame ????
The staff was so lovely. However the beer tabs weren't fully stock and more than half of the beer wasn't available for purchase. The food was really below average. Quiet expensive for just a few sausages and mac and cheese. The salad wasn't good either. We ordered a salad of chicken and spinach but the chicken wasn't even cut and mix into the salad. It came out as a whole big piece. I don't know they put the spätzle in the salad but the combination of it and the salad is really disgusting :/
