Stopped by for lunch today. I got the beef brisket plate with red beans rice and sweet potato casserole. The meat was tender, a little pink on the inside, with just a hint of smoke flavor and a nice little crust of seasoning on the edges. The sweet potato casserole was outstanding, moist but not soggy and the pecans were a nice touch. The red beans rice were just hot enough. Great service, too – I got takeout and wal... Any man that calls his BBQ, Texas BBQ, better be ready to hear the truth when real Texan walks in. I walked in and Randy and family met me at the counter with Texas hospitality. I asked sevaral questions to see if he truly was indeed from the south. He passed the test. Now on to the the meat. Although, Im not much on having my ribs wet 'covered in sauce ' with an open mind I reached for the half slab I bought and broke a couple ribs off. Texture was great and the taste was all the way to the bone. Excellent. I had to wait until I got back to the hotel in Indiana, so I would have some elbow room when I got into the brisket. Like I said, I like my sauce on the side so I can really taste the love put into the meat, I jumped on the brisket with both hands. Smoke was moderate and not over bearing, seasoning was laying out on my taste buds and making me smile. Now I travel a lot for work and its always nice when feeling home sick to be able to sit down and have a meal that you can picture yourself at home watching the kids chase the goats in the pasture or just the sound of you hounds bawling because they are ready to hunt. This is how I felt while trying to put the entire pound of TEXAS brisket down in one setting. I cant tell you much about the BBQ sauce that was put on the side for the brisket, because I never stopped to try it before the meat was gone. So if your looking for the taste of Texas, but dont have time for the 20 hour drive. Stop in and see Randy and family they can take you there for less then 20 bucks. Sorry for the terrible picture, it dont do the justice the place deserves. Brisket Excellent...Red 's Texas BBQ. Thanks yall.
In town visiting friends and stopped here to eat and was not disappointed at all! Everything homemade, same day! Tried Bbq sandwich, mac and cheese, fried cabbage and sweet potato casserole and it was all delicious!
Stopped in tonight for the first time. Omg we will definitely be back. My boys loved the ribs, pulled pork and brisket. I thought the sweet potatoes were heavenly. We have enough brisket left over for sandwiches for tomorrow nights dinner. Yay! Thank you also for the friendly down home service. I wish i could give more than 5 stars!
We stopped in today to grab lunch. True BBQ is difficult to get right, but Red's is the real deal. The brisket, ribs, and chicken all had great flavor with the perfect amount of smoke. The sides were tasty. The prices are great. And the hospitality was spot on. New favorite...and highly recommended!
My wife and I decided to give this place a try after hearing all the rave reviews, and it did not disappoint! The chicken was incredibly flavorful, the brisket was so tender it practically melted in my mouth, the baked beans made for a perfect side, and the sweet potato casserole was simply outstanding. The staff were wonderful and the service was fantastic. I’m really disappointed to learn that you’ll be closed for the winter, especially since I just discovered this gem. Keep up the amazing work! This is hands down the best BBQ I've ever had.
