I was in from out of town and brought my brother here. They were busy but understandable. I didn't like my wings but it's ok. Just a personal preference. Will visit again and get something different. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Old Toll Gate Inn:
Food is terrible they put what ever they want on your steak an cheese after you tell them want you want on it. Gave them a second chance an guess what happened, same thing all over again. View all feedback.
The service is terrible. You keep menu items on the board they have NO LONGER and is the whole reason for your visit after you call. Then it takes 30 minutes if there are like 5 people all over the place.
If you like clean safe food then don't eat here.. I loved all the people who worked here and still do but I was a cook for five years and got to see the truth.. this kitchen of the business is just like a kitchen nightmares from Gordon Ramsey.. it's disgusting and ashame the owners let this place go.. when it was ran in the early 2000's business was booming but I will say in the later years of 2020 the business has failed, if you dont mind mediocre food and maybe sometimes a dropped wings picked up off the floor the kitchen to serve then it's not a bad place to eat but if you want quality food trust the employes. underpaid and terrible safety concerns. If you like a dark low light dark atmosphere this is the place to go
This local bar is the BEST place to get wings and beer in Johnstown, PA. My wife is from the area and brought me here for a few beers, and it became my mistress. We come every time we're in town. Wings and sauce and home made. The bar is a total dive with the ambience of local approval. Do not sleep on this place. Stop in for great wings, cheap beer, good conversation, and great service. Also, get the corn nuggets.
The Toll Gate is an institution. An aging one, but it's so pure Johnstown that it's worth a go. Selfish reason, it was my late Pap Pap's favorite bar. The beer is cheap, I can't speak to the food as I haven't eaten there in years, but the waitresses were always kind to my Pap Pap (and all the regulars). I came in Oct after we gave them a tile with my Pap Pap's pic on it in July from his funeral service and the fact that it was still out for me to see, alone, makes me want to come back over and over. Thank you, staff, for that small honor to a man I loved to so much.
Great food. sloooow service. waited 45 minutes for special !
