Short summary: Dosa Hut is excellent, Newark Avenue is a great destination for authentic Indian dining. Atmosphere is not what this place is about, spartan is an apt description. The blah blah part: Wow. Dosa Hut is amazing. What Roshini Subapanditha doesn't like about Dosa Hut:
Recieved order as a complete mess, the curries burnt through the plastic, the items were all just dumped into a paper bag- not sure if it was the delivery guys fault or restaurant. Ravi onion dosa was ok, samba’s were all watered down. The gulab jamun was horrible- dont know if they were stale but they tasted funny. Saag Panar was sweet…. Yeah wasnt impressed. Please do yourself a favor and take a walk down the hill on Newark Avenue in JC, stopping at Dosa Hut near the top of the hill for a dosa as an appetizer (best if split with someone, they are large). Then, either try the other items here or continue down the avenue to one of the many other restaurants. I have not had the Dosa Hut's entrees; the Hut is all vegi.Last weekend I had a masala dosa with potato (aloo) and paneer, it was amazing, and I don't use the word lightly. It was an explosion of flavor.
Ordered pav bhaji dosa and there was no bhaji to be seen inside dosa. It felt like sada masala dosa plus sambhar and chutney quality was not good at all.
I order often from this place. The dosas are good.I give it a 4 instead of a 5 because they often mess up delivery orders. A couple of times that I've ordered Mysore Cheese dosas, and just received Mysore plain dosas even though I've been charged for the former.
One of my fav go to places to have good South Indian food! It’s not a fine dine place by any means but if you are looking to have some delicious food on a weekend, this is it!!My fav from here is (sambar, idli , masala dosa combo) it’s $14, worth the price and gets you everything in oneI enjoy the thali as well a lot here.Sometimes it could be super busy so make sure you have 15-20 minutes extra timePrices are good and taste is amazing.
Really nice place, I highly highly highly recommend the chole bhature. We tasted it once and have ordered it a lot of times since. Other than that, we also got their masala dosa and pav bhaji which were also delicious. Overall, the prices are cheap and the food is yummy!
