Now this place was a wonderful surprise! Good Cajun food in the middle of Missouri just doesn't happen but these guys made it happen. Grilled catfish may not sound good but wait til they put their special touch on it Wow! The jambalaya was amazing as well. If you don't make it here for dinner sometime, youre missing out. What Denise Jackson doesn't like about Cajun Catfish House:
Very much NO! Their filets are 1/2 of a fish filet cut down the middle. Sides gave us frozen TV-dinner vibes. Server was extremely nice, but forgot something every time she returned to our table A friend recommended it, we tried it, won 't return. We wanted to really make this place a part of our regular lineup but were grossly disappointed. View all feedback.
We were there for dinner on Tuesday 4/5/22. We ordered gator for an appetizer. They were so rubbery and over cooked. The waitress said that was how it should be. I ask for sweet tea and when I got it. I could tell it sat a long time. It was bitter. I got the (Mac fish and corn bread.. I opted for hush puppies. They were so hard they couldn't be eaten. The macaroni was so dry it was like no cheese on it at all. Overall it was really bad and we were charged $42.87. The transaction is 112261. Won't be back any time soon.

We should have turned around when we walked in the door and could smell the fryer grease. We were seated quickly. We noticed the table top had a shine that was grease layered on and not clean/the surface was tacky. Our rolled up silverware hid two dirty knives. Crab cakes for appetizer were horrible. Smelled like fish, inside was mush. Had some sort of mustard to go with it. Yuck. I ordered the 4 oz. lobster tail with butter, red beans and rice, and green beans. My partner ordered one catfish filet, mac and cheese, and slaw. Where do I begin? The green beans were straight from the can. No seasoning what so ever. The red beans and rice: beans were split open from being over cooked. Rice was mush. It is obvious they heat and reheat this stuff until it's gone. Hushpuppies were nothing more than balls of cornmeal, dense cornmeal, no seasoning, nothing. When I asked for butter for the lobster tail, I was brought what appeared to be fake butter used at the theatre on popcorn. I asked the waitress if it was real butter and she stated yes. She was WRONG. At this point, I sent my plate back and ordered fries. The catfish filet was good and fresh and hot. The slaw looked regurgitated and the mac and cheese was a blob of overcooked noodles. We were only charged for the catfish piece and the crab cakes.
This was our first visit to the Cajun Catfish House. It won't be our last. Good selection including catfish, crab cakes, breaded oysters, alligator, frog legs, and more. We had carry out fried catfish, breaded oysters, and crab cakes. We got the food about 2:30 and warmed it up about 5:30. It was very good!
