This is a fantastic Bangladeshi-Indo Chinese restaurant with delicious food. However, the delivery time can be quite slow, and the prices are on the higher side. Be sure to try the Chicken Lollipop—it's a must! View all feedback.
What Harris Smith doesn't like about Sagar Chinese:
We ordered mixed fried rice, Thai soup, chili chicken, and beef sizzling, along with chicken lollipops as an appetizer. The mixed fried rice and chicken lollipops were both delicious. However, the chili chicken and beef sizzling didn't meet my expectations based on my previous visits, and they seemed to have declined in quality. They used to have a more robust flavor and larger portions. The Thai soup was also a bit... View all feedback.
I was there with four of my friends. Went there to try Thai soup and veg roll with wontons. people used to say that the soup they make exactly taste like what the Chinese restaurant makes in our country, Bangladesh. Back in my country, The recipe is slightly changed to make it likable by us. To have that exactly same taste went there. Ordered Thai soup and wontons. The taste was awesome. After having enough of Sagar's declining food quality, I just had to write this review. Full disclaimer, as a person who has known the Sagar family and been there from the start of their food businesses, I believe I`m in a unique position to comment on their food. Also, we live near Sagar with a short delivery time and always consume the food when delivered, so our reviews are as when eating freshly prepared items. About a week ago, my wife and I ordered Sagar Chinese from
Overall terrible quality, especially the meat dishes. The color was so off-putting I did not try it. Glad I skipped as people in my party got food poisoning upset stomach for the rest of the day. On the positive end, the soup was good and so was the fried rice. But not worth risking getting ill. It was a GrubHub order so can't speak for service. I remember when this place opened up decades ago, we were all so excited to finally get Bangladeshi Chinese cuisine in NYC.
Really great Bangladeshi Indo-chinese restaurant, food is delicious. However takes a while to deliver order and price is not that inexpensive. Chicken Lolipop is a must try here.
I went to restaurant about 1 or 2 times a year as a family tradition since I was a child. They have since then remarkably started up charging certain menu items like the chicken lollipop. However, the quality of the food started to diminish, they started rushing undercooking the chicken lollipops, one of my favorite appetizers. I ordered extra to go when I got home, to my surprise they gave me fried chicken instead of chicken lollipops instead. They scammed me.
