I chased her salsa and chips. Today was particularly good. Salsa had a kick, but not too much. The chips were fresh from the frit. My husband, who grew up with a Mexican best friend in California, knows the right deal. This is one of his favorite Mexican restaurants to eat. The staff is always friendly and after a few visits will you be treated like family? View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Los Portales Mexican:
This location was near the Santaville exchange. We arrived late and our other party waited so we didn't get warm chips and fresh salsa. Our order was taken quickly, but it was wrong when it arrived. I was so hungry that I ate it anyway. Next time I go to Los Portales on S. Highland View all feedback.
Awful service. The waitress got everyone in the restaurant's orders wrong, was rude and had a bad attitude. Really explains why only 10 people were in the whole restaurant on a Saturday night. No idea how the food was because it never came out right and we left.
The service at this restaurant was incredibly friendly, speedy, and efficient! The salsa was fantastic - I couldn't get enough of it. Our main dishes were also delicious. I will definitely be returning to this restaurant!
Everything was delicious, top 3 Mexican restaurants I've ever visited. Great service as well!!!!!!
I came here for dinner on a weeknight, and it was not too busy. The service was excellent, the waitresses gave us excellent attention and tons of drink and chip refills. For my meal I got the Molcajete and it was severely lacking. It had a decent amount of chicken, but no cactus or other meats. The avocado still had the skin and sticker on it, and the beans were cold. I decided to order a flan too, and it was awful. Completely tasteless and still frozen in some places. Pretty bad experience, won't come back.
We are heading south on the highway with an overnight stop in Jackson. This place had my five stars when I tasted the crisp Dos Equis Amber with lime in an icy mug. I ordered the shrimp enchiladas which came in a creamy white sauce. My husband also had shrimp, but fajita style, also tasty. The menu is enormous and it was hard to make a selection with so many delicious sounding choices. The service was prompt and courteous and the usual salsa and chips hit the spot. The food is good without being overly spicy. And of course there are bottles of hot sauce if you crave more picante fare! I would definitely stop here on our next drive down highway 40!
