One establishment exemplifies disappointment, serving overpriced, low-quality dishes with rude staff and a cramped atmosphere. Diners lamented the lack of freshness, particularly with their oysters, leaving them feeling cheated after spending significant sums. In stark contrast, Prawn on the Lawn dazzles with its vibrant, friendly environment and exceptionally fresh seafood sourced weekly from Billingsgate. This charming spot near Highbury Islington offers imaginative small plates bursting with flavor, a delightful drinks list, and attentive service, creating a truly enjoyable dining experience that beckons repeat visits.
We had a great experience at Prawn on the Lawn for our first visit. The restaurant is located in what appears to be an old shop, among several other restaurants in the area and only a short walk from Highbury Islington tube station. We opted for a variety of small plates, including mackerel, prawns, tuna, and spicy potatoes. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious, although we wished we had ordered a larger dish for two as we left still a bit hungry. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Italian red wine from Puglia with our meal. The total cost for the two of us was £165, which we found reasonable considering the quality of the seafood. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. We look forward to visiting again.
As long-time patrons of Prawn on the Lawn, we enjoyed a delightful lunch at the restaurant today. The taramasalta with crisp bread was delicious as usual. While we typically order the small plates (which are always good), this time we tried the orzetto and it was fantastic. The service was friendly and efficient. The only downside is the limited vegetarian options, so it's advisable to check beforehand.
The restaurant had poor quality food with excessive salt, was overpriced, and had rude and unfriendly staff. The oysters were terrible and clearly not fresh. We were seated in a cramped space in front of the kitchen. One staff member was particularly disinterested and unfriendly. We spent £200 on burnt bread and low-quality food. The menu claims were false and many items were unavailable. This is a place to avoid, especially when compared to other restaurants in Cornwall. The one in North London is shockingly bad in comparison.
Fanastic seafood fusion, best and freshest products, original receipts fused with the asian sauces. Adopted themselves to IBS sensitives and customized the dishes. Bought their cookbook.
This is a super little restaurant which has an amazing menu choice- food was delicious freshly prepared. Would highly recommend
