What a fabulous find. I followed the wonderful bakery smell in Cowes High Street to a shop with artisan breads, cakes, scones, meat pasties etc Great selection. Eat in or take away. Lovely man said the shop had been there for 12 years .. we will definitely be going back View all feedback.
What Worldtraveler1611 doesn't like about Well Bread Artisan Bakery And Cafe:
Awful experience! The cheese roll was expensive and gave me indigestion. The woman who served us was very unfriendly. Thought I was supporting a local business, but regretted it. Definitely recommend avoiding this place. View all feedback.
I ordered a cheese and tomato sandwich. It was a large roll covered in a thick layer of margarine, with a single thin slice of packaged cheese that was starting to curl at the edges, and some haphazardly cut tomato slices. The sandwich was not edible and cost £6.50. The lady did not wash her hands between serving coffee and cake to other customers and taking my money to the register, which was very off-putting. Although everything appeared to be fresh, I noticed that the cakes were taken out of plastic packaging and dusted with icing sugar instead of being freshly baked. My sandwich also seemed to be taken from a cooler box rather than the supposedly fresh ones on the shelf. Overall, the experience was disappointing and I regret not speaking up about the lack of hygiene.

We chose this restaurant because we believed it was independently owned. Unfortunately, my partner's roll was not only overpriced but also lacking in taste. When I tried to grab a slice of pizza using the tongs provided, it fell apart. The woman serving us yelled at me, informing me that it was not a self-service establishment. I apologized, but she continued to scold me for supposedly damaging the slice of pizza. I explained that I intended to purchase it regardless, but she insisted it was only for display and that I had ruined it. Feeling frustrated, I left without making any purchases. It's baffling to encounter a situation where a customer is willing to buy an item they have supposedly "damaged," only to be met with hostility. Perhaps the woman serving us should reconsider her career choice.
