Just a short walk away from where we were staying in Gurnard. Good to find it for Sunday lunch. Not the greatest environment but it warmed up as it got fuller. The staff were delightful friendly, efficient speedy despite also having to deal with another table of 18. A party of us booked for Sunday lunch. Firstly we were told we couldn't go to the bar they'd come to us. 5 more of our party entered got served at the bar. Wrong drinks delivered to the table then wrong meals. Plate's were not cleared off the table, ordered desserts more drinks not 1 empty glass collected or dishes. I am 58 years old and I have estimated that in that time I have had thousands of roast beef dinners, The Portland's roast beef is the best I have ever had, perfectly medium rare, perfect veg and a great selection of real ales. Now we have all been to a pub and had a nice meal then gone back a few months or a year later, the management or chef has changed and the quality has gone downhill, not here I have been going for the last 7 years and every time it's amazing, I think they have chained their chef to the cooker because it's the same one! I recommend this pub to all my friends and family and we keep returning. Thank you for another lovely meal and great service. Please could you move the whole pub to the mainland so we can go weekly : p.s. Please bring the same chef!
