Fego Caffe - Isipingo
Fego Caffe
Description
Bookstore‑inspired café delivers a warm, calming atmosphere, excellent coffee, comfy seating and free mall parking, making it appealing for cake or a relaxed breakfast. However, experiences are inconsistent: some guests report slow or inattentive service, cramped seating that challenges prams and wheelchairs, unreliable feedback channels, and serious food‑quality and safety problems (undercooked items, wrong ingredients, sour sauce) that have caused illness. Visit with caution and confirm current kitchen and service standards before dining.

The menu is surprisingly extensive for what is generally considered a coffee shop. I expected only a few light meal options, but instead found a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and a breakfast menu, along with full meal options. They also offer a wide selection of gourmet coffees and frappes. For our meal, we ordered the chicken wrap (R62) and a crumbed chicken strip Panini (R58), both of which came with either chips or salad. To drink, we chose their ‘original lemonade’ flavored with watermelon and berry (R27). Fego is known for its generous portion sizes, and the Panini was no exception. I really enjoyed the flavors; the crumbed chicken was well-seasoned and moist. Paired with the chips, it was quite filling for an average appetite. The chips were delicious—thin and crispy without the dryness typical of certain fast food joints. The chicken wrap was light, and the feta paste added a nice touch. Again, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and juicy. Overall, the meal met coffee shop standards, except for the lemonade, which was overly sweet and had an artificial taste that overshadowed the flavors. I recommend trying the chicken basket, which is always good, as well as the tramezzinis, especially the Cajun chicken variant.
The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. It offers great value for your money. The coffee is superb, and the overall ambiance is incredibly calming. I would certainly come back and recommend it to others. A big thank you to the management and staff for providing such a refreshing experience. It's fantastic to enjoy excellent service while relaxing on a comfy couch.
This is one of the best halal restaurants in Durban. The food is on par with other franchises within the same group. I've only visited for breakfast, and the meal was enjoyable. The service was satisfactory.
I really love Fego Coffee and appreciate the laid-back atmosphere inspired by a bookstore. The food is fantastic and never lets me down. My only complaint is that the service can be a bit slow at times, and the space is quite cramped, making it somewhat uncomfortable for prams or wheelchairs.
