What User doesn't like about Yamanto Tavern:
I was not impressed with the service we received last night. We waited over an hour for our meals. There was no apologies and at no stage was I informed that there would be a lengthy wait. When I eventually got my meal I had to send it back. When I cut into my medium cooked steak it was still rare in the middle with red juices running out. Not happy at all. View all feedback.
We typically enjoy ALH venues, but unfortunately our first visit to this one today was less than stellar. We waited 35 minutes for our food to come out, only to receive our main dishes. When we inquired about our entrees, we were informed that they had been mistakenly given to another table. The chips served with all three meals were overcooked and cold, indicating that other tables were experiencing the same issue. My steak, which was supposed to be cooked medium, was overdone and dry. However, the bao buns and kids pizza were enjoyable. The outdoor area was in need of a thorough cleaning, as there were cobwebs everywhere, including above where guests were dining and in the playground area.
Had dinner with a group of 9. All meals came out in a timely manor and all of us were happy with our choices. Steak was perfectly cooked was served with lashings of mashed potato! The reason for the 3 stars is that my after dinner flat white coffee had a mountain of foam and there was no one checking vaccination certificates shame on you Ale House!
My wife and I went there today for lunch. Had to view the menu via scanning a QR code. It bought up photos of the meals and prices. I ordered the barramundi for $32. The photos showed two pieces of fish taking up two thirds of the plate. So I believed this is what I would receive for my $32. When my meal arrived the piece of fish was o more than 100mm long and 60mm wide. A far cry from what they were promoting. When I questioned them about the size they just said what I received was the standard meal and the photos were what head office put on there.
Food was yummy, decently priced. Our group was sitting in the outdoor area where the playground is we observed a small child open the side gate multiple times which was right next to the car park. This is a huge safety issue which the staff did not seem to be concerned of when this was brought to their attention of the safety issue. Yes, supervision from the parents was also at fault however you advertise that you are a kid friendly space.
I swung by Yamanto ate at Yamanto Tavern the way home from hiking Flinders Peak. I ordered the vegan pizza and was impressed tasty, healthy (on a thin flatbread base, like pocket bread) with lots of yummy veggie filling (pumpkin, mushrooms, red onion, capsicum, vegan cheese). And not too big. Much more interesting than most pub vegetarian pizza options. Well done to the chef
