Iowa Chop House - Iowa City

My husband and I shared several dishes, including a pork chop, a top sirloin with a blue cheese crust, hobo potatoes, creamed corn, asparagus, and sautéed mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection. I have nothing but positive things to say about this restaurant. We were seated right away, our water glasses were replenished frequently, and we ordered a chocolate cake to take home. I highly recommend this place!

The food was fantastic! Based on another reviewer's suggestion, I ordered the steak with bacon butter. While it was delicious, the bacon pieces on the steak were extremely salty. I had to push them aside and opt for smaller bites because of the saltiness. If you enjoy bold flavors, you’ll love it, but if you’re not a fan of salt, you might want to skip the bacon butter. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I will definitely be returning.

The steaks, sides, and appetizers were quite enjoyable. I had the filet with a crusted horseradish, while my partner opted for the 12 oz sirloin. The crab cakes were acceptable but could use some improvement. The mushrooms were excellent, but the mac and cheese felt like it had too much sour cream or something else instead of cheese. The atmosphere was average, lacking a bit of flair for a chop house, but the prices were reasonable. Overall, I would definitely consider returning.

I would certainly come back if I'm ever in the area again.

Excellent service, delicious food, and a wonderful atmosphere. We enjoyed the steak and roasted chicken, both of which were fantastic.
