Best Fish&Chip ever. I rarely post a review, but this one was well worth it. Chicken burger was also delicious. Awesome service. Even if there is a queue outside, wait! You won’t regret it. View all feedback.
What H V doesn't like about Girvans:
Terrible food, but the service was good. Many people in line in the am for this place. We were seated quickly. Food was awful. Food was all bad from the porridge (barely cooked), yogurt/granola combo (tasted off), runny eggs (ewww) and finally some tasteless avocado toast. All around not good. Don't spend your money here. Lovely cafe with very warm staff. Ambience was very relaxing and warm, and food was great so we returned the day after. If you’re craving a little Asian, you must try the green curry stir fried chicken. It was so, so good. My husband had the steak and cheese sandwich and he devoured it- the best he’s had.
Surprisingly spacious with staff that make you feel right at home. Lots of delicious breakfast options with good coffee.
Best lunch I had over my 11 days in Scotland. Delicious rotating menu, friendly serving staff, and positive vibe. And the delicious desserts! Yum! Would definitely return here. Parking is on your own in the nearby parking garage.
Stopped here for a quick breakfast and found out that they don't really have many interesting vegetarian options and also food was really overpriced for what it was. Nearly 7 pounds for poached eggs with tomatoes and toast. My husband had eggs Benedict with salmon. He said that salmon was very cold like straight out of the fridge to his plate, contrasting in an unpleasant way with the warm poached egg and hollandaise sauce. So a very low quality and uninteresting breakfast with tea for two for nearly 16 pounds. Not worth your money. Lots of better places around. Service was very average too. Wouldn't be back.
Girvans you are like a lovely big familiar hug, and how I do miss that! Granted the food here is nothing extraordinary, and I think maybe the prices are little steep, I think last time I went it was over £6.00 for a sandwich!? This is why this place is like a lovely big hug..... I can go in every time and know exactly what I am having, NO..... do not hand me a menu, I do not need it. Chicken Tempura with sweet chilli sauce, a cappuccino, and of course I MUST eye up the cake cabinet when I arrive. The sweet delights this place has to offer are always so tempting! That could be the reason I only have a starter, leave enough room for a strawberry tart or a lovely slab of carrot cake! Service is always good during lunch, prompt and efficient, but maybe rushing you out the door a little. I have been twice in the evenings and find that the staff seem to take it a little easier then, maybe to the point that they are a bit slow and inattentive. All in all, lunch.... yes please. Dinner, no thanks. I would rather pay an extra few pennies and go to the mustard seed or the kitchen.
